Hulk prediction...

So I’ve noticed a lot of new incomings with the Hulk in December from members on TRF and friends/family. I even got a call from my AD saying he believes he can get one before January and if I would be intrested.

Same time last year I noticed the same thing happening with the BLNR. My AD called me in December 2018 and confirmed he had a BLNR coming shortly and I managed to secure one for myself in February 2019 just before Basel.

Now in my honest opinion I beleive ADs are trying to get rid of the Hulk models as they are either discontinuing the model completly or bringing it out with a new movement for Basel in March. Who knows maybe even put it on a jubilee and discontinue the oyster (I hope not). Either way it is a very similar pattern with what happend with the BLNR last year.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? Isit just me or has anybody else noticed more incomings? Also what’s everyone’s thoughts with Hulk being discontinued?

There is no shortages of them on the preowned market. DavidSW had 6 and now has 4. They have been out a long time without anyone caring so it could be the last 3 years of people noticing it have purchased it and the market is satisfied of the green Sub. The BLNR was wildly popular since its introduction so there were a lot sold from the beginning.

The ENTIRE sub line will get a movement update sooner or later. If your thinking your LV is going to be worth $20k+ well your dreaming. Its a watch that has been out for a long long time and many 1000s available within a 5mins search online and delivered to your door 24hrs after purchase if you pay the hype premium.

If a new one does come out it will be hyper flated prices in the gray market and it will settle just like the new BLNR has dropped more than $10k since its initial release. I know someone that paid $22k+ for one. Now brand new BLNRs can be had for $13k's easily from private sellers and these are dropping by the week.

This coming Basel might be it. Otherwise it might be the explorer lines.

So I don’t think you have read my thread properly. At what point did I mention anything about the price of the watch?

But since your on the topic I do beleive if it is discontinued it will go up in value. Especially if they don’t bring it out with a new movement.

However I do agree 20k plus is a dream!

You don’t think your “hype premium” will be 15-20k, I think so right off the bat just like BLNR was and is.. I do agree at some point if all of this were to happen I think it will stay in 12-15k range. But again who knows Rolex will come out with something awesome or something ugly, that eventually we will want.

Happy holidays everyone!

Even if they are going I don't think any AD will be desperate, or struggling to move them. I don't think that the UK will see many SS incoming's before January if the price increase rumours are true and the dealer network has been informed.

For sure, there is a change coming.
Here, where I live there were many Subs sold recently, including Hulks. Prices went down on the grey market....

That would leave only one color SS Sub. Really? People have been forecasting the Hulk discontinuation for the last several years. Why don't you just admit you don't know a damn thing Rolex will do?

All speculation.... however as i have seen rolex does the complete opposite of what anyone has predicted on this forum over the years

The safest prediction, based on history, is that the Submariner will get a new movement like the GMT-Master II along with a slightly redesigned case. It will be extremely difficult to tell the difference. Rolex is not going to screw with its most popular professional model significantly. Instead of the 116610LV you'll just have the 216610LV or something to that effect.

Additionally, I can't see Rolex getting rid of what has become a staple in the Submariner line limiting the options of dial/bezel color to black only. Rolex has already demonstrated a desire to offer stainless steel models in a couple variations with the GMT-Master II. The Submariner always follows suit similarly.

Do I have any clue what Rolex is going to do? Absolutely not. But neither does anyone else. My predictions are just based on history.

I agree that they need to do additional colors... eventually the green Hulk can go and will probably go at some point...they can replace it with a Blue, or Maroon, or Brown, Grey etc etc....

Ha ! If they do redesign the lugs (please, please, please !!!), you bet we'll easily be able to tell which one sports the new movement

Way more incomings this year end across the board from Rolex. I suspect stock was held back in the late summer and early fall to allow for holiday deliveries. I would not read much more into it than that. An even flow of product makes good sense rather than throw it all out there at one time leaving a year-end drought.

I really don’t see them changing the case design for the Sub and look for something simple. I do think the hulk will be discontinued. My bet is new movement in the same case, discontinue Hulk and maybe offer another color (I’m hoping SS blue).

I would LOVE to see a SS in blue. Sunburst dial, blue ceramic bezel...
