They sure do have marketing down. Now I want one of these.

They make some great videos and have great pictures, but in this case the watch still doesn't do anything for me.

A lot of what makes the world go round today is marketing.
I sometimes catch myself falling for things then realize that I’m not really passionate about them and move on Gotta be careful |

As a former BB58 owner, I feel that the watch has a confused identity. It wants to be vintage, but the weight and construction precludes it from feeling so. It wants to be modern, but the “gilt” dial and faux rivets scream olde worlde.
Upgraded to a 114060 instead - a watch that unashamedly knows what it is. |

Disappointing video. It’s hardly a review and more of an overview that gives off a department store product ad vibe. Would have preferred if it was Jason Heaton doing the review instead.

Their partnerships with Omega (now an AD) and Tudor are turning them into a typical automotive mag that supports itself with paid automaker advertisements. They probably needed to change into the mostly biased model to survive. Just my opinion.
Their Talking Watches segment is still very cool though. |

I liked the James Stacey review of the GMT and like a lot of the talking watches stuff.
This wasn't a great review, It is a great watch though for the price and if you found the standard BB too thick or too big hits a vintage sweetspot. |

Seen the video just yesterday, I had a BB58 for a very short time. It was a great Watch overall & extremely accurate +1 if that. At the time it didn’t sing to me.

Tough crowd. I’m generally skeptical of Hodinkee, and I thought the clip was decent. Stephen tends to review the smaller watches, I think the BB58 is a natural highlight, in his lane. I am also appreciative that Hodinkee continues to promote the sub-40mm watches.
The BB58 is a huge value for the $, especially in a world where vintage Rolex and Tudors are ballooning in price. A $3K Tudor is nostalgically trying to remind you of a piece that is 3x-10x it’s price. ....But I am Tudor fan so I am biased. |
