AP dealer in Vegas claims 118238 links are hollow

I'm not sure if he's just engaging in salesman bravado, but he claimed my 118238 has hollow links. In case he was mistaken, I specified that mine is a 2007 "11" model. His response was "YEAH, I know. All daydate models are hollow except for the "22"s and "21". Not sure what to make of it. Anyways I left the store a few minutes after that.

You’re right. The 6 digit Day-Date models are solid gold. The salesman was incorrect.

Perhaps they were getting confused, with the newer DD’s having ceramic sleeves within the links.

I'd never buy anything from somebody talking my stuff down.
Who needs an AP if you own a DD anyway

Think his head may be hollow. They should at least know what they are selling.

Wait, he sells AP for a living. Why is everyone expecting he’s an expert on Rolex?

Should have asked him why AP doesn’t spend more time making their movements more accurate rather than just making them look fancy????

Follows up...went to AP at Crystals. Asked salesperson if they were under the same false impression and she said "of course, it's not hollow. Unfortunately alot of sales associates don't know the product they're selling or other brands either. Basically, just a person to show you items and take your money"

AP dealer in Vegas claims 118238 links are hollow

Salesmen are often wrong.

I once tried on a 43mm Breitling Navitimer and the salesman was trying to tell me that it was 40mm just like my Submariner. I did research before going. I knew for a fact it wasn’t and that Breitling didn’t make a 40mm Navitimer at that time.

The thing is I’m pretty sure he knew that. I expressed concern about it maybe being too big for me.

I think he lied just so he can sell it to me. Too bad. I loved that watch. I might have gotten it anyway. He should have kept his mouth shut and not lie about the size.

It was such a turn off. I would never buy anything off of that guy.
