36 MM OP w/ Arabic 3 6 9 or 39 MM Explorer

Hello,

I need help determining which Rolex to purchase - the 36 mm OP w/ Arabic 3 6 9 or the Explorer I at 39 MM.

i have very small wrists - about 6.25 - 6.5. I feel like the 36 mm is the best fit for my wrist but I love the Explorer even though it looks a little big on me.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you.

I think 36 mm OP w/ Arabic 3 6 9 in Blue will win my money!

Thanks for the response!

This would be a lot easier if Rolex still had the 36 MM Explorer I.

The OP is a much more interesting watch, imo. I don't like the Exp's wide, flat bezel.

Neither. I would look at the 36 mm Date Just and pick between jubilee bracelet and oyster. Pick a dial that you want and typically you can get one in pristine condition in the pre-owned market for significant savings.

Your wrist is on the smaller side for sure. But I think even a 41 looks good on that size wrist. So I wouldn't let the issue of 36 vs 39 deter you.

Get whatever is more comfortable to wear first and foremost. If the way they both feel on your wrist is negligible, get the one you think looks better on you.

You can pick up a used 36mm Exp for around 5k...one of the most classic designs ever made.

I have a 39mm Exp and after getting it I sold everything else I had...it really is that good and versatile (for me at least).

Good luck with your decision.

For what it’s worth, I have just over 6.5” wrists and held off on buying the new 39mm white OP because it was too big for me...until I saw one in the flesh, tried it on, and walked out with it! Love that watch and it’s simple, elegant dial. I’ve owed the 36MM Explorer I and loved that as well. I don’t like the huge text on the new 39mm EXP1, but that’s personal preference, I wouldn’t let the 39mm part deter you.

If you're open to buying second hand, don't discount the 36mm Explo. It'd fit your bill perfectly.

This. Seems like the perfect marriage for a small wrist & the 3/6/9 requirement.

Plenty high quality supply around.

Here's a pic of both

To me it's a hand choice for viewing and a bracelet choice for comfort

The blue dial is really nice looking! Between those two that’s tough but the blue is so good looking that it might tip the scales in its favor.
