Who uses their Rolex Coffin?

Hi all,

Those who have a Rolex coffin (plastic case AD receives watch from factory in), what do you use it for? Do you have it just because it is cool or do you use it for travelling etc? Curious to know!

It’s a plastic case filled with styrofoam. No, I don’t use them.

I have two watches. I keep one in the coffin when I’m not wearing. Fits in my sock drawer better than the box it came in. Plus, I’ve ruined a green Rolex box by using it as a place to store a watch. Those boxes are not meant for long term opening and closing. (Like a few times a week of opening and closing.)

I must confess that after more watches than days of the week and this watches going into storage, they are actually great storage containers. Especially since the little groves allow you to stack them on top of one another like LEGO bricks.

This is exactly my sentiments. I use them for storage of my watches in the safe. Very convenient and stacking them up saves plenty of room.

I have the coffins from my last three purchases. My Daytona was actually shipped to me in it, the others just handed to me. I guess to me it's just an interesting piece of kit that lots of folks don't even know exist.
I did find that they are for the specific watch. My Daytona was sent to me while I was vacationing in New York. I pulled it out to wear then tried to store my BLRO in it. Wouldn't fit, the boxes might be the same but the styrofoam inserts are not.

I use mine fairly regularly in my gym bag. Rather keep my watch in there than banging around in the bag in my locker. Handy thing!

I have never gotten one and not that I need them but not a bad idea to have 1 or 2 on hand. Would there be a reason an AD would not want to give you the coffin? I would assume if he thinks you might be a flipper would be one reason but then they shouldn't be selling the watch to begin with.

I use them when I need to send a watch in for service. We don’t have an AD where I live so they come in handy as I need to ship my watches for service.

I asked my AD for one with my purchase and he said they are supposed to throw them out rather than give them to customers. I prevailed anyway. Rolex has too many arbitrary rules.

i have a handful of them, and i actually use them to store my watches when i am traveling and they’re in the bank. they’re also massively helpful if you need to send a watch in for service.

I use them for all my watches. Great way to store multiple watches in a safe deposit box or safe without taking up too much space.

That’s the proper use. For storage in the safe or the bank’s safety deposit box.
Even more safe than the Rolex green suede bags.

They stack well in my safe. Keep three in there and they fit nicely beside a 6 watch box.

I’ve purchased three new watches from ADs and have never been offered the coffin. Not a big deal, not sure how it would be useful to have.
