This kind of "I wear my watch"-threads, often should read "I should have taken my watch of before doing that".

Not sure what kind of enjoyment you get from risking damaging your precious belongings.

I certainly don't. I wear my watches everyday, but I take them off if I'm about to do something that could damage them.

What’s the point of having these things if you can’t wear them? If anything happens, I have comprehensive insurance.

What people forget is these things can take way more than our own bodies can.

Steve - you're one of us who actually USE their watches as they were intended -- to be worn, used and enjoyed.

Nuff said.

I wear my watches everyday but I take them off when moving furniture through doorways, pounding nails, etc. An ounce of prevention (ie. 5 minutes off) is worth more than a pound of cure. I really don't know who you are trying to impress.

- these posts trigger so many people - on both sides of the debate.

Personally, if you're not intentionally trying to damage your watch, everything else is fair game. It's a lot of money, no matter what Rolex you own, to have it sitting in a draw - much rather use it (this doesn't mean abuse it - cleaning the BBQ with your watch on isn't abuse!).

Are you going to clean it?

I could clean a chimney wearing my hand knitted cashmere but why would I?

One caution I will offer, welding sparks WILL pit and craze sapphire or mineral Crystals.

I've had it happen.

If you have e gauntlet style gloves, shouldn't be an issue though ;)

Thank you! I was wondering if that would be the case.

I was using thick leather gloves and had a long sleeve and a hoodie sleeve over the watch

Thanks for the advice though

Heck yeah! I mean I wouldn’t jackhammer miles of road with my watch on but I wear it for just about anything else.

If you want it to be immaculate put it in a safety deposit box and never look at it. Forget you own it lol

To each his own I say, its just a difference of opinion and lifestyle. Enjoy your watch however way you want it, its your watch, your money.
I rather look at the common denominator here..we all love and enjoy our Rolexes in different ways.

Plus its the Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone.

Should have taken a picture when I was armpit deap in a blocked drain wearing my Explorer. It's just a tool and if you need to preserve its value rather buy shares.

Just because you can do something, does not mean you should. So, did you keep the watch like that or clean it after? If the ladder, then there was no reason to wear it while cleaning. Did you need to know the time while cleaning the bbq? If you kept it looking like that after, great, you just like a dirty watch. Why risk damage when not needed?
