Regret selling my Batman
So I sold my Batman in mid 2019 for a profit of USD6k due to the sudden demand for it.
After which I got bitten by the bug and started buying, wearing and selling a few more rolexes - YM blue dual, TT root beer, TT Sub and sold all in Dec 2019. Somehow those can't fill in that void. I recently also bought a Royal Oak 15450 grey which it is rocking on my wrist at the moment. However I still yearn for the Batman but I don't intend to sell my AP Prices are slightly coming down for the BLNR. Was wondering should i purchase one in the secondary market right now? Any thoughts? Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk |

Only if you really want one today. I think prices will continue their softening trend over the next year, especially if a new SS GMT variant is introduced.

To the contrary,i don’t see the batman on oyster coming down soon any time.It is the original oyster batman and it is a discontinued model and is far more popular than the jubilee.I would personally get another soon if the chance presents itself.

Thats a tough call OP. I'd give it a little time to make sure. I've thought of selling mine for a minute but I'd probably be in your shoes. Enjoy that AP for now. It's a Beauty!!..

I did a similar thing; sold my gmt Pepsi. It’s the only watch I’ve ever felt indecisive about and now I’m wondering if I should buy another.
Maybe put your name down on the wait list and continue to mull it over. Should give you plenty of time! |

It did occur to me to get a vintage pepsi though. Still a sucker for oyster bracelet over the jubilee. Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk |

If I were you I would buy it now. It’s not like you’re actually paying grey prices since you sold it for a profit. And I am no expert, but since the watch is discontinued on oyster, I don’t really see the price decreasing. |

To be honest, I think the BLNR is better looking than the Royal Oak and I'm a Royal Oak fan.

You’ve bought & sold four watches in the last year and you’re now wearing your fifth. Maybe it’s time to slow your roll. I suggest taking at least a few months to figure out what you really like before pulling the trigger on your next future watch to sell. Good luck!

Unless you enjoy the constant trading, I’d slow down and ponder about choices as well. The 15450 is a very beautiful watch. It scratched a lot of itch for me. That’s a keeper.

An old Pepsi always works. I did pick up an F ser. @ 6 mos. ago after lurking for a year.. original LN and added the insert. I kept looking as prices kept going up, now they've seemed to stabilze a bit.

Is that a 16710? The 16750 or 16700 is also on my radar but hard to find an unpolished one Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk |

OP...Of all the watches I have sold, I have only regretted letting my 16610LV go. I bought it for $5,500 and sold it for $6,000 a year later. I thought that I did okay since it did nothing for me. Now that its worth 2-3 times more, I have regret. But for financial reasons, not because I miss it.
Maybe you are feeling you've lost out on potential price appreciation vs loving the watch?

Seems you’re spending time on social media being influenced a lot. You’re going from watch to watch. You don’t enjoy what you have because you’re always looking.
I could be wrong, just my opinion. Something similar happen to me in the beginning spending time on TRF, always being drawn to a watch because of nice photos. I went through a few watches. Now I just enjoy the one on my wrist, the rest are for me to enjoy and comment visually. I don’t have to own it. And now when I buy I buy to keep, not investments or the social media hot watch, I have to personally like and want it for my reasons. Like the Daytona, very beautiful but wouldn’t buy it even if offered by my AD, I would politely decline. In my opinion, the AP is the more beautiful watch but since it’s on your wrist, you probably spend time looking at pictures of the BLNR because AP owners can’t compete with the incredibly high numbers of photos posted by Rolex owners. I have a policy, if I sold it, it was for a reason. If it was to get money, that’s your problem, you sold a watch you like for money and now you realize the watch was more important than money. That’s another reason why watches aren’t good for investments, but if it was another reason, then that reason will come back and you’ll want to sell again. Enjoy your AP, look at photos of your reference in social media, it will help you appreciate what you have. |
