Are There Any Issues With Wearing a Bracelet Tight?

I just bought a bracelet for my Tudor BB58 and had the watchmaker adjust the bracelet to be on the tight side because I am planning on losing weight. The bracelet doesn't move on my wrist and leaves a mark when I take it off. I've heard that wearing a bracelet loose can cause it to stretch, but I was wondering if there was any problem with wearing a bracelet tight.

I'd be more worried about skin irritation than bracelet stretch. Wearing metal that close to your skin + heat + perspiration surely wouldn't end well?

Why? What about a wedding ring? They are worn tight around the ring finger.
Watches are not meant to be worn sloppy loose like a women's tennis bracelet.

This is a good point - but I do know of a friend of mine who was having issues in the environments and conditions I mentioned above with their wedding ring - active, hot/humid conditions, who switched between his gold ring and one of those rubber ones to give his finger some respite.

Also, shouldn't a well sized ring move slightly? Or at least, not leave an indentation in the skin, as is being discussed here?

Another qualification - when we say tight, how tight are we speaking? One person's tight, is another person's loose.

Skin irritation would be my main concern. Most people don't realize that sweat and dirt can trap in the watch.

I think it sounds like your bracelet is too tight. Kudos for losing the wait but I suggest you get it resized to fit your wrist now and adjust when the weight comes off.

Why not properly fit the bracelet now and then resize it when it becomes too large? It’s not that hard to add and remove links.

I wear mine fairly tight...no issues in ~20 years. I do see marks on my wrist when I take my watch off in the evening.

Depends on the mark, if it's too deep and visible or light. My watches are all snug to my wrist, they leave a light mark that fades away a couple of minutes after taking them off.
Lose watches looks bad on the wrist in my opinion and don't sit behind the wrist bone which makes them wear uncomfortable.

No issues whatsoever. I wear my bracelet tight. Not uncomfortable. A PM Sub is fairly heavy and I don't want it sliding up and down my wrist. It stays put. Marks on the skin? Who cares? No different than marks from your underwear waistband.

Size a watch after dinner when you’re done expanding for the day. Just like buying shoes.

I feel like some of the responses along the lines of "I wear my watch tight" need qualification statements...

Do you wear it all day, every day (7 days), without taking it off (except for sleep)?
Is your environment humid, cool, dry heat?
Do you work at a desk... more active profession?
Do you wear it while exercising, golfing, etc. etc.

These factors would certainly impact wearibilty of a tight watch.

100 degrees, 80% humidity, 12 hour, 7 day a week wearing, while active -- if your watch is TIGHT -- and there's no issues -- get yourself to a Research Lab immediately, we want to reproduce your skin for a new line of extreme clothing imperfluous to heat/humidity/abrasion!

you can resize the bracelet faster than you could lose weight and see differences in wrist sizes. Wear it comfortably, once you lose some weight, take off a link.

Bracelets can be adjusted at anytime. Why don't you have it made larger for now and make it smaller later? Other than being uncomfortable, you'll put much more stress on the spring bars which hold the bracelet to the case. You'll also get some bracelet stretch, but that's not as prevalent as in the past. Looks like you're from a cold weather climate, once the heat and humidity start you may run into more issues.

IMO, if it's leaving a mark, it's too tight to be comfortable. Go back and have the bracelet resized to fit you at your current weight. When you get the weight off, you can always reverse the process.

This is what the original question was. I have a DJ on a jubilee that I wore loose as a daily driver for 20 years. It was the look.

It’s now at rolliworks getting redone after they rated it at 65%

I resized my DD presidential to be snug. Comfortable, but snug.
