New to the Game
Looking to buy my first Rolex. Looking at pre-owned models. Anybody have any tips as to what to look out for? Often i can't detect any difference between two watches even though they have very different prices from the same seller. There are a few things i've picked up on such as:
1. look for scratches 2. box/papers 3. Links in bracelet missing. What else should i be looking at? Any help is appreciated!! |

New to the Game
What models do you like? Price range?
Submariner 114060 is a good one that doesn't have horribly high premium and is under $10K. Those price differences can be due to the remaining warranty from Rolex or the level of polish a watch has taken.

Looking at Yachtmasters. New are only in rose gold for $14k. Used are much lower and more variety. Subs are great but yachtmaster I (not the II) is the right mix of a-hole and beauty.

The most important thing is where you will buy the watch from.
If you get that right, it takes most of the thinking out of the "game". |

Being a newbie myself, I am glad I bought my first Rolex from an AD. That allowed me to settle into the community and read this forum and other information. That info convinced me that other than availability, buying from an AD is THE way to go until you get much more experience and knowledge.
Best of luck. |

Where you live you really don't need an AD, you have a very good online dealer in your home city.

All great advice. A bit painful since the new ones are so so expensive, but very much appreciate the thoughts

Spend some time here researching threads. Sometimes new MSRP is less than preowned gray market prices. Happy hunting.
