Seadweller red hands

Hi All,

I'm picking up a SD 43 and can't help but think to replace red seconds hands from Yachtmaster 40 would look awesome. Does anyone know if this is doable? Maybe Cyclops remove also. Thanks.

Depends on the movement. If you keep the original parts, and you want to spend the money on it, do whatever.

I think a little mod like this (red hand), which is non destructive. would make the watch more special to the owner. Better than us all being lemmings and owning the same thing!

I wouldn't go for the cyclops removal though, as it leaves a non AR coated area where the cyclops used to be.

That’s a big fat no for me.

....because this.

I gotta say that in the world of modding cars, houses etc, the swiss do “oem” just right. I’d swap the bracelet for some rubber occasionally, that’s it.
Part of what makes Rolex what it is that same basic heritage formula. If you want color, they do that extremely well also, but when it comes to there monotone watches, like the Daytona C or any standard diver, it comes perfect from the factory.

But it’s you’re property, I’ve seen some low rider range rovers and 911s with drag tires and fast and furious body panels with flames on the side. The owners were apparently very happy. I wanted to gag.

The SD43 is the most proportional and perfect piece made by Rolex! Just like that! But is your watch! Do it.

My DSSD with a touch of red
Any watchmaker can fit those.

(YM second hand and red date wheel, make sure you get the new one with the same colour luminova, check with member Viperb )

Did the same to my DSSD & old school Sea Dweller a few years back. Now I have a no date sub with a splash of red...

If you like it, sure.

I am a little biased to the classic SD.

Will Rolex or an AD sell them you though, ad I quite like the idea of the 36mm OP with the blue dial and lumped Arabic’s that looks like a blue Explorer 1 dial if I could change the hands to 36mm Explorer ones?

Is a YM seconds hand the same length as a SD43?

That’s a really cool idea and makes it unique to the owner. More power to you, it’s your watch do what you want with it

When I was reading the thread I thought to myself that a red seconds hand wouldn't be so bad until I saw it. Ew... Sorry but I wouldn't do it. Red text is enough.

If you do go ahead its likely Rolex will treat that as a 'frakenwatch' and not service it. Also your warranty will be invalid

Not for me. The SD43 has all the elements I need without modification.

I like the SD43 just the way it is, so for me that would feel a bit overdone ... to each their own
