Andy Hallett, a singer who gained fame portraying a green-skinned demon on the dark vampire series "Angel," has died at the age of 33, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office said this morning.

A Sunday telephone call to 911 had Hallett complaining of shortness of breath, spokesman Ed Winter said. The actor was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m.

Initial reports state that it was heart failure caused by heart disease following a tooth infection.

This hasn't even reached the news media in the UK so I just wanted to pay my respects to him here.

He was a talented man and a great representative of the sci fi/fantasy medium. In interviews he always seemed such a likeable fellow and fans always reported on his manners and qualities.

Sad day.
