Thanks for this update. I wonder what the idea is behind this, because now they've essentially banned sales of Rolex during this pandemic.

I think ADs can still sell to existing clients specifically without having to do in person. Probably over the phone and shipping within state. Rolex more than likely is referring to digital storefronts.

In UK At least, all ad’s are close. And so are rolexes factories. So there’s nowhere to ship from, or to?

While I'm not suprised Rolex aren't allowing AD's to sell online, with limited supplies anyway there isn't much point. I just can't understand why Tudor isn't.

Factories maybe closed and while you can't physically visit an AD there are plenty out there still trading with what they have in stock. Different brand but I had no trouble purchasing and receiving a new Omega from an AD this week.

I was thinking the same thing.

As to Rolex ADs - they are still 'open' here in Australia - but the majority are "by appointment" or very limited trading hours and number of customers in store at any one time.

Signing onto TRF, reading about watches, celebrating incomings and generally hearing the latest news in the watch world has been a fantastic distraction for me.

So please don’t act like you’re above all this watch talk cause there are more concerning things happening in the world.

I certainly agree that the profits are huge, Steve. Haven’t those past profits been transferred to the Wilsdorf Foundation where they can’t flow back?

Nobody really knows the answer to this, as Rolex are so secretive as are the Swiss Government when it´s about their charities, one of which the Wilsdorf Foundation, i.e. Rolex, is. I´m no lawyer and can only speculate that when Hans Wilsdorf set up his foundation (in 1944 after the death of his wife, if I remember correctly. They were childless.) he took the very best legal advice available at the time in war-isolated Switzerland. That might mean having some sort of "get the money back" clause in it should Rolex ever be in danger of going bankrupt. That will most probably never be made public, but who knows?

More ADs are working from home, and have call forwarding set up. So while the store might be closed, the some AD staff are able to communicate with customers. Hopefully we can all get through this.

I got an email yesterday from an AD offering me one of the models I was previously interested in. I kindly declined for now!
