Tudor chrono 79260 pics with dings!
Finally got some ok pics, so I thought I'd share. Any advice on a good lens for a canon 400d gratefully accepted. Some of the pics posted by other members are stunning and I'd love to improve my shots.
After reading loads of great posts on TRF I've fallen back in love with my watch. I love the concentric circles and the homage it pays to the 6263 Daytona. I gave the bracelet a good clean and polish as per the TRF post from Tools (cheers). As you can see from the pics I have a ding on the crystal and a corresponding one on the bezel. Worst thing is, I'm not even sure how it happened. The watch is due a service as I don't believe its ever had one. I bought it from the original owner in 2006 and it is starting to lose a little time. If I send the watch off to RSC to get serviced, I understand that they can replace the parts, but won't return the original pieces. That a bit of a shame as I like to keep all those sorts of bits (I'm sure alot of you feel the same). If anyone knows I would be grateful if you could tell me if I would get a matching replacement for the bezel from RSC or whether it would be a slightly different model. Could anyone recommend me a good independent watchmaker in the south east of England, so that I could keep the original parts? |

It's great to fall in love again, Mark You know I love that Tudor chrono. Since it's relatively new RSC should be able to replace the bezel and insert with same. But I'm like you and would prefer a good watchmaker with a parts account to keep the original parts as well.
Good luck and thanks for posting, dP

Thanks for advice Dan. You and the other guys in the great tudor chrono thread really taught me a lot about this watch. I haven't found more info on these watches anywhere else on the net. I'd love one like yours or Neil's (fantastic looking silver dialed 79170) with the rotating bezel, they look awesome.
What is your take on the new Porsche Tudor chronos from Bazelworld? I personally think they look great. The placement of the date bubble is certainly different. mark |

Beautiful watch Mark many congratulations
Respectfully, as you live in the Garden of England (Kent) why not have a trip up to RSC at Bexley & have a word with them about what it would take to bring it back to pristine condition. My son has his 79260 there being serviced right now, if I remember rightly it was something like £140 for the service, new Daytona bezel £90, new set of Daytona pushers £90 & a non LEC sapphire circa £120 (apparently an etched S sapphire was a lot less but they wouldn't let him have one fitted ) He says he'll post full details with before & after shots when he gets it back. You might be pleasantly surprised at what they have to say, plus there's a nice Ernest Jones AD at Blue Water as well Sorry to ramble on & once again many congrats Mark |

Ramble away my friend! Look forward to hearing /seeing details of your sons watch when its back.I rang RSC in london today and they quoted around £235 for a service, £60+vat for the crystal and £112 +vat for the bezel. Thanks for the advice. Its sounds cheaper through your guys. Can you let me have their number? My local AD in canterbury (Maplin and Webb) can send it off for me, but I would much prefer a recommended independent so I can keep the bits.
Dan, the date bubble is located between 5 and 6 o'clock on the new models. Oh, and the rotating bezel gives you something to fiddle with too, lol. |

Mark, my son took it along to Rolex Service Centre, Heathend Road, Bexley DA5 2AA 01322 625400. Unless I'm starting to suffer from dementia, I'm sure the Tudor Chrono service was around £100 cheaper than the normal Rolex service of £240, I remember remarking on this at the time but I stand to be corrected, maybe it is starting to go |

Thank you Howie
Mark, I've just spoke to my son who checked his RSC estimate, the service is £235 like you said. God knows where I got the £140 from, a severe case of wishful thinking I guess. Sorry pal I didn't mean to mislead, feel free to push pins in my voodoo doll effigy |

Great news Chris, they look stunning with the ss bezel, and its getting a refurb too. Don't worry about the mis quote.
Hey dan , don't forget the GMT with a jubilee craze you seem to have started too. They look smokin'! Btw, did you guys see the thread on daytonas with a jubilee. They look amazing. Tudor had a jubilee available with the chronos too I believe. That might be something I look into in the future. I won't have any money for a whole new purchase any time soon I don't think, but that could be a fun option. Anyone know the serial number for the tudor jub bracelets or any pics? Thanks again |
