“Solaro” dials?
In the Mondani Day-Date book, in discussing the 18000 series, they briefly mention something called “Solaro” dials. All it says is that it “gets its name from the material used in ‘solaro’ clothing: a combed fabric with an iridescent effect due to the difference in color between the weave and the warp.”
It offers the photos below, which do show quite a color change - This does not appear to be what we refer to as a mosaic/brick/shantung dial, nor a silver or gold “linen” texture dial, but something different. Does anyone know any more about these*, have any other examples we could see, etc.? * E.g. - Did they come in colors other than this one in the photos? Were they only offered in the 18000 series? Is the dial covered in actual fabric, or is it just a similar effect? . . |

As the light moves over the dial, the sheen tends to move from light to dark across the whole dial. Similar to what a sun burst dial does but not in a radial pattern.
