Rolex Serial number & date query??

Hi guys! I just purchased a Rolex and the Serial number (which I checked after taking off the bracelet) matches the certificate, awesome... BUT when looking it up the serial number puts it in a made in 1991 category, whereas the date signed on the original certificate is 1992... is this a sign of something dodgy?? Or do these things overlap?

Please help!!

As Padi said if it's a slow seller it may have been made in 1991 but then been at the AD for a few months then sold in 1992.

Watches are not sold the second they leave the factory...well maybe not so much these days, but in the 90s ADs would sit on inventory for quite a long time, its not unusual to see serial codes dates 3 to 5 years before warranty card dates.

Thanks for the reply! Yess this reference is what I was going by, do you think its legit even though the serial number starts with an X (should be a 1991 make) but the written date on there certificate says 1992? :)

What watch is it and it would be almost impossible to sell all X serials in the same year 1991/2
