Tudor 9411/0 (1981) advice

Hi

Have the chance to buy a circa 1981 Blue Tudor sub snowflake. I’ve wanted one for a while and this one being my birth year, from a known UK dealer and a reasonable price point makes me very interested.

I own several high end watches but nothing in the ‘vintage’ category.

Bracelet is incorrect (as advised by seller too). Bezel looks in very good condition - service replacement or just clean? Dial also very nice - many of these seem pitted to death ! I’m not the best at judging polish level, though can see the strap bar peeping out the lug hole - wasn’t sure if that’s because lug is overly thin or because of the incorrect strap.

Any advice appreciated. :)

Al

That thin font I’m thinking service bezel...but I’m not a Tudor pro

I have a similar year Tudor Submariner (although black). I've had it over 30 years and believe the bezel insert is original. To my older eyes the bezel insert numbers look similar in size/thickness to yours. Other opinions are always good to get.

Some really good vintage Tudor people on here - I don't know enough to give an educated opinion, but I do know the dark blue bezels are sometimes service replacements from the later submariners.

The dial looks very clean and dark, I would be tempted to say it may be a later service replacement.

Worth having some of the pure tudor experts here but there is something fishy with this dial.

I won't go into the detail of the one feature but its worth pausing on this under Linesider comes along to verify.

I just checked it against my black dial and its apparent. In fact, you can see it vs. the black dial in David's picture.

Thanks so far everyone. :)

Hopefully the Tudor guys will jump on.

The bezel I can live with as I like the sharp blue rather than a ghostly grey, but more info on the dial would be great !

That Case is not, repeat not, a 1981. I would want to see engravings before even thinking it is real (and still not a 1981)

I do not like the dial. Photos are intentionally blurry to wash out a known detail on fakes

Crown and bezel surely aftermarket

Hard Pass

Can you reveal which seller is selling this?

Its somewhat discouraging that this is from a dealer.....

I think the experts have spoken now and its not genuine.

dial and hands are 100% fake. Looks like case isn't right either from LS's observations.

Dial (letters alignment, "T" positioning, spacing etc.), hands (thin edges), bezel (font, thickness), crown (logo, dots) definetely look fake to me. No way an honest and qualified dealer would offer this for sale, imo...

Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice. As above, I passed. TBH its put me off vintage for a while (not your advice which was excellent, the feedback itself on the watch showing its a minefield!)

I am not here to name anyone, although you can find this watch on Chrono24. Hopefully buyers of vintage will always do their homework.
