I have a Sub Date with 2 white specks on what I believe are on the underside of the crystal. This is bugging the crap out of me. Would you send it into Rolex and wait 10-12 weeks or would you take it to a reputable watch repair facility?

By the way I bought this watch from an AD in a pre-owned sale and did not notice them in all the excitment. It had just come back from a refurb at Rolex and I am suprised they did not fix it then. I am being told that if it did not affect the pressure test they would not have replaced it. It is a Y serial.

How much should this cost, and what would you do?

I guess it would depend on how large the specks were and whether it really is bothersome. Once you start wearing the watch regularly it will get some battle scars. So do you want to spend a lot of money or can you live with it!!!

It would bother me, have the AD take care of it.

Something on the crystal which I have to look at everytime I look at my watches would bug the heck outa me as well.
I think it should be less than $200 to get that changed.

It depends on how old the watch is. If it's still under warranty, they should cover it for free because I would not be happy with specs on my supposedly "dust free" watch.

I would also just got back to the AD and ask them to take care of it, it most likley is covered anyway if it had a recent service, probally just dust or lint under there.

Would drive me nuts and need to be fixed..

I have a m series sub date and noticed a speck what i thought was on the dial. anyway i took it to the ad that i bought it from ,He put my watch under a microscope and told me to take a look. It was an inclusion in the crystal , just like ones in a diamond.they said i could get it replaced buy i didnt .its under warranty so no worries...

I feel your pain. I agree with Scott, talk to your AD. That's what I did.

White specks inside the crystal is usually dust from the markers, or luminous from the dial or hands. This could be on ongoing problem if that's the case. Have it checked by a watchmaker at an AD.
