Exp 1 Mk2 Vs. DJ41 Wimbledon

Hey Guys,

I currently own an Exp 1 MK2 which I love, however, my AD called and said they just received a DJ41 Wimbledon which is also a watch I've been dying for.

If you had to choose one, which would you choose and why? No wrong answers here!

Explorer 1, MK II.

Wimbledon is readily available at many dealers across the globe. Explorer I is way more desirable and is also much harder to find. Its a Rolex that doesn't tell others you are wearing. However you can always turn your wrist and smile at your accomplishment.

Not to mention its a timeless design that goes with jeans and a Tuxedo.

Explorer for sure. I’m not a fan of the Wimbledon. To me, the symmetry is off and I don’t care for the design of the Roman numerals. The Explorer is much more classic. Beautiful symmetry and a timeless design.

Explorer for these exact reasons.

Exp 1 as a long term piece (not for collectibility, just on lasting looks). If tempory and will move the piece over time, then DJ today.

Explorer is not hard to get in most countries, it is readily available in most countries in the Middle East. I'm surprised people say it is. DJ41 much better looking and screams Rolex more than Explorer. DJ41 Wimbledon even commands premium on other DJ41 dials in the Middle East.

DJ41 is my vote but I'm biased because I never liked the Explorer. At the end it is your personal choice OP.

EXP for me. While I really like the DJ there's just something about my EXP that I really enjoy...

The Wimbledon comes in 2 versions, SS or Gold bezel, I like the WG fluted bezel version very much but personally find the plain bezel to be blah.

214270 gets my vote. It’s good for any situation, mine has become my all day everyday watch. I also own a 116300 with the Arabic numerals and it gets much less wrist time. I like the uniqueness of the Wimbledon dial, but the Explorer is more versatile

Explorer all day, every day! Don't lose the explorer. It'll be the biggest regret you'll ever have.

Explorer 100%. It’s the perfect one watch for all occasions.

I have both Explorer 39mm Mk2 and DJ41 (blue stick dial, smooth bezel/jubilee) and while the DJ41 is really fantastic reference I would pick the Explorer as only watch.

What configuration for DJ? If jubilee and flutted, I’d likely consider the 41 over Exp. Otherwise, 100% Exp1MK2.

I have both.

My Wimbledon dial is two-tone on Jubilee with fluted bezel. It's a beautiful watch but..........................

I would let it go and keep the 214270. No question.

My personal choice would be DJ41 over EXP I any time of the day because datejust offers date complication and it is one of the most versatile watch whether you want to dress up or dress down.....

I have the Wimbledon on Jubilee w/fluted bez: After 2 years it still gives me that 'Rolex Buzz' every time I slip it on. Here's a quick picture:

Explorer for me. I'd love to own a DJ, but I think there are nicer configurations than the Wimbledon.
