Incoming! 15450ST Blue

Today I got my dream watch!
I have to start this post by saying a huge thank you to the members of this forum for your advice and the AP knowledge I’ve gained from reading your posts! Specific shout out to Token74 (Vince) for consistently making people, including myself, aware that 15450 is a great option for anyone who doesn’t have a large wrist. For reference my wrist is 6.25” if the tape measure is tight. My wrist is flat so generally I have no problem wearing mid-size or even larger watches if that makes sense. I think the 15450 has the perfect proportions for me. It feels like it wears just a bit smaller than my ceramic submariner but not by much. It feels dressy and sporty all at the same time. I’ll attach side by side pictures of both for those of you who are wondering about the size of 15450 like I was. I’m obsessed to say the least! The range of blue found in this dial is beyond comparison.
Over the past year I’ve built a friendship with Jerome at the AP Bal Harbour boutique. He has been patiently answering my constant calls and texts about availability with kindness and most importantly transparency (hard to find in today’s watch world). I cannot recommend him enough. He valued my story and was truly in my corner to get me an allocation.

Congrats!

Excellent timepiece and looks great on your wrist. Getting a blue dial allocated isn’t easy, so your passion and positive engagement must have been appreciated.

Enjoy the new watch

Agreed that the folks at Bal Harbour are top notch. Also, this is a wonderful reference. A perfect fit for midsize wrists.

Was the boutique local to you? I don’t have one near me, so if I were to buy something would I need to travel to the boutique to pick it up? Is it better to inspect before taking possession?

I’m from central Pennsylvania where nothing is local to me! I chose Bal Harbour because I have family living in Jupiter-West Palm and I visit that area in the summer. I also assumed it would be easier than competing with the New York crowd for an allocation (which may or may not be true, Florida money is no joke). I would recommend visiting at least once to establish a relationship with an SA. If you can get an allocation for a watch you love then I wouldn’t worry about inspecting it. My watch was shipped to me overnight, factory fresh, just a day after it arrived from Le Brassus!

Two more questions. Did it come sized, and what do you do if you need the size tweaked? Any swag (loupe, travel pouch, etc). Thanks for the info!

They had me take measurements of my wrist and text them to my SA for sizing. For my wrist size they took out two links before sending it to me and it fits great. There’s no minor size tweaking or adjustment on Royal Oak the way there is with Rolex glidelock so if you need to add or remove a link you’d have to go to a boutique / do it yourself. No swag was included in the box but I wasn’t worried about that. Just being allocated a blue RO was the gift! Also just so you know if you are a first time customer purchasing over the phone it’s AP’s policy to only allow payment in the form of a cash bank wire. If you have prior history with their boutique then you may use a card or whatever you want. You may also use a card in person they just don’t allow it over the phone. The issue becomes that if you live far from the boutique and they give you just a few days that the watch can be held, then wire becomes your only option. Not saying that’s an issue for you at all just something to consider. Good luck and let us know if you purchase something!

The 15450 fits great on your wrist and compliments for your new arrive!
The only criticism is the thickness in relation to the diameter.

Congrats, it’s beautiful! I too took the advice from this forum and treated myself to a 15450 a few days ago, I have the same wrist size as you. I am really happy with the size, I was torn between this size and the 15500. I didn’t like the thought of it being too big and it looking like I had borrowed it from someone

I didn’t get the chance to try a 15500 also and you had no chance trying anything on due to every non essential stores shut in the UK cause of the pandemic. So I had to do a load of research on the net before making my purchase. Thanks, enjoy your awesome time piece and have a lovely weekend
