Seeking opinions on this 16710 pepsi

Hi everyone. Looking to purchase this 16710 pepsi. Full set with paper.

Received some photos from the seller.

Condition looks good. But the engravings between the lugs look iffy to me.

Wondering if it is just me or if you guys see any issue.

Thanks in advance, grateful for any opinions!

I don't see an issue but the more astute forum members may.

Everything look fine except the clasp rolex coronet look bad. You may need to verify the authenticity for the clasp.

Thanks! Now that you mentioned it. The coronet does look weird.

The serial and engraving looks ok to you? Seems like there were some touch up done.

In chinese culture the numeral 8 symbolises fortune/prosperity. While 6 symbolises luck; in some chinese dialects, the pronounciation for 6 is similar or close the the pronounciation of luck.

You had me look at my serial number. Only two 8 and no 6.

Everything looks fine to me except for the buckle, which looks to have been excessively polished. Keep on eye out for flat spots on the bracelet links that might indicate overly aggressive polishing to remove scratches.

Thanks for that pointer regarding bracelet! Any thoughts on the reference and s/n engravings?

I personally wouldn’t buy it, at least without more pictures. The coronet does feel a little odd on the clasp, and the case back feels very odd as well, it feels stamped rather than machined....But is could be the lighting.

Looks like the buckle has clear tape on it which makes the coronet look off.

Yeah that's correct. The seller has pasted protective stickers. So perhaps that's why. Probably take a look in real life first. Thanks!

Take it to RSC or have it authenticated at a reputable watchmaker.

Looks good; do you trust the seller? Check references? Buy the seller first

What's odd is the SN is covered on the paper work but on the watch it is fully visible.

Are they interested in protecting the SN or not?

Actually this is my mistake. I wanted to protect the SN. Then i realised if i covered the SN on the case engravings then i would not be able to show the weird last 3 digits engraving and the word 'STEEL'.

Good decision. The clasp coronet should be central in the square segment it is on.. What else has been jacked and replaced with fake would be my concern.

Good tip on the clasp! After comparing with other 78790a clasp. The coronet does look uncentered. My main concern was also the possibility of engraving touch up to match the papers.

Interesting post thanks for sharing! I'd also be dubious if the SN, that would massively affect its desirability as previously shared. Let the pros take a look if that's a possibility! Good luck.

Edit. I had another look. The SN isn't that special in that regard. Worth a check anyway. The SN is far sharper than my 18yo sub

Indeed! Ought to be careful. Too many details that could be faked/franken these days.
