Need Input - Rolex Explorer I - Ref #214270 MK2

Hello Rolex enthusiasts! First post here.

I need your help to provide input regarding the condition of an Explorer 214270 I just bought.

The watch is in like-new condition. Not even a single hairline scratch. However, there is a tiny nick at the bottom left area of the case. It is very hard to see it in regular view. However, if I inspect it up close to my face, then I can see it. Please see the attached photo. I could feel the slight indent if I really try to run my finger nail along the edge.

I would like some inputs in regard to whether I should be worrying about this at all, or if I should just return the watch to the seller and get another one. It is within the return time frame.

Thank you for your time.

If you don’t think there will be a problem with returning it, return it. You will never unsee it. Just keep in mind that if you return it and point that out as the reason, there might be the possibility that they’ll say you could have did it.

Wherever way you go, congratulations on a great reference.

Welcome to TRF.

Unless you paid a premium because it was "perfect" i wouldn't worry about it. Assuming you wear it often, you will add your own door jam dings, desk scratches etc soon enough

I wouldnt worry about that - in the coming weeks or months you will add more of your own. It was not bought ‘brand new’ as others mentioned.

yea. purchase at like new condition.

Like new is a very broad and vague term. very subjective

C'mon man, get real! It's fine.

Think how your nose would look at 100 magnification!

Unacceptable!!!

I would ask them to knock $10,000 off the price. At least. That should be fair

Depending on what you paid, I wouldn’t worry about it. If you paid a premium, however, I’d send it back.

If that very very very very very tiny minuscule mark is all you got to worry about in your life that will be a huge bonus.

The first blemish you put on it will most likely be more noticeable than that one... Wear it and enjoy it.

It's totally up to yourself if you can live with it, another watch may have a different blemish. If not get an even trade for a Presidential for your trouble and stress.

I would not worry about it.
You will add many more scratches and dents.
However, if you want your explorer to be a safe queen, return and exchange it.

Looks like a mark left from a case back remover. No big deal. At the end of the day its whatever makes you happy.

That's "like new" in my eyes. Wear it for 15 minutes and it will have more damage than that.

It's "like new" OP. If you were that concerned, should've bought new! Enjoy the watch.

Thank you everyone for your inputs! I really appreciate it. This is a great community.

I guess I’m just super OCD about it because I did paid higher than retail for it. Paid $7000. Retail is $6550. However, I didn’t had tax on my transaction so it ended up being about $155 less than the out-the-door price at my local AD. Still has over 4 years of Rolex‘s warranty on this.

I had decided to just enjoy the watch and move on with life to more important things.

Wish everyone a happy Father’s Day!

You have to be joking. Don't worry about it.

Under that magnification it is hardly noticeable. To the naked eye nobody will see it.

I have the MK2.

Personally, it’s a watch that looks better with patina.

Don’t worry about it. Wear the watch and enjoy it.

Never let anyone polish that out.

That mark is too tiny to worry about. Marks are more clues as to whether a pre-owned watch had been abused in its past life.
