Dilemma
Hello guys, I am pretty new to this luxury watch collection. Always a big fan of the royal oak ever since I first laid my eyes on, but the 15400 is huge for my 6.5” wrist so decided that I should just get the 15450 version.
Ok the dilemma now is if I should settle for the Royal Oak 15450 Grey dial (which I can get it now) or have my name on waiting list for the blue dial. Usually how long is the waiting period for the blue dial in Singapore? |

I wouldn't settle. If you do, you'll end up thinking about the one that you REALLY wanted.

there is no right or wrong answer so i would say what i would do...i would get the gray and put my name on blue. baby the gray one until the blue comes along. you won't take a big hit if its kept at good condition with all box and papers. this way you have something to enjoy today and something better to look forward to.
this was my plan when i bought the silver 15500 (while i wait for 15202/15407) but i now love silver so much that i don't think i will ever sell it. so it will be my silver watch and 15202 will be the blue one when it happens :) |

My understanding is the 15450 blue dial is about as hard to get now as the 15500. So, part of this answer is dependent on your patience. |

If you get the grey now will they put your name down for a blue?

True - I figure he should just ask the dealer and see the response.

I’m in the US not Singapore, however at this point all steel RO watches are allocation pieces so no matter where you are it’s probably similar. Unless you are a big spender with them I wouldn’t count on the boutique allocating you both a grey and blue piece.
It took me roughly 7 months to get the blue dial 15450 with no guarantees. My SA really pulled for me to get one and I had a fantastic experience. With that said, getting a blue dial was a mix of luck and a great SA to get it done. The situation also sort of evolved for me because I didn’t reach out to them originally asking for a blue dial watch (I don’t think you would get very far with that). At first I was asking for information on more attainable pieces but when talking watches it was clear that a blue RO was my dream. From there you just have to hope for the best! For me it was definitely worth the wait, the blue does not disappoint. It is even better in person! Honestly if I would not have been able to get one from the boutique I probably would have just bought it here from a trusted seller. I believe it is well worth the current grey price of around 24k USD. 15450 is really the last RO blue dial where the grey premium is within reason. Buy/wait for what you really want and don’t settle for your second choice or you won’t be happy long term and will end up spending more money. I wish you the best of luck in your search! |

Have you ever tried them side by side ?
Maybe you would prefer the grey in person.

The waiting list for any RO is not on a first-come-first-serve-basis. The easiest way to find out how you stand is to go to the boutique, present yourself well and ask for it :) |

AP has produced far fewer grey dial Royal Oaks than blue. By waiting years for the blue dial, or paying more for it, you are getting a more common dial color that, unlike the white, grey or black dial, doesn't really work with a lot of clothes.
Years ago, the only blue dial watches one could buy were the Royal Oak or the Nautilus. Today the market is flooded with them and virtually every watchmaker produces blue dials. Be different, go grey. |

Hi guys im also about wanting to get my first RO in Singapore, are there any possibility of getting a 15500 blue for a first timer? Or do i have to build up the relationship at boutique first...
