Rolex OP 1007 mosaic blue

So, I came across this little beauty. Im trying to make a decision if to buy it or not.
It should be a 1969 OP with a mosaic blue dial. Dial looks good to me, no damage or sign of touch-up. Case looks polished a few times. Engine turned bezel in good condition.
I dont know what to think about the folded links bracelet.

Any opinions? Seller wants around 2200-2300 usd.

Thats a great price, especially for a blue dial that hasnt deteriorated around the lume plots.

That's a beautiful little thing and a a great price. I have just had a green strap made for my 18K 1007 with gold mosaic dial. Greatly under valued piece IMO.

I like it and think you should grab it. I have a similar dial on my DJ, it's beautiful when the light hits it.

Beautiful dial!

My only concern would be the size, as 34mm is I find it to be a bit small personally. If it works for you though, by all means, get it - it's a beauty!

Im a vintage guy, 34 mm is good for me!

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinion.
The dial is everything about the watch and the price is right. I would have liked to be less polished but thats me just being fussy after years of hunting/collecting.

Ok, so I pulled the trigger. Couldn't let this puppy go, especially at this price. The watch came with the original box and an extra new Rolex genuine strap with buckle. I initally thought this strap and buckle might be fake but I believe its genuine after a close examination.

So, the watch is from ‘72, not from ‘69 and the seller believed. The serial matches the marking inside the case-back: I 72 (first quarter). Movement is extremely clean and there are markings of previous services. One is clear, it was done in 1989.

The case, as its obvious, has been polished a few times.....but I consider it acceptable. The rest of the watch is too good to focus on lugs.
Dial is in perfect condition and this is where the money is, but the watch is a little gem as a whole package. This dial and this bezel are pretty rare. They didn't make that many of ref 1007 and even less were with mosaic dials.

The folded link bracelet appears to be the correct one. The markings are 7835 with 357 hollow end-links. It has a reasonable stretch but is overall in a great condition for its age. I shall consider a refurbishment!

This is my review of the watch. I stand corrected if I made any errors and I welcome your feedback. Of course, as soon as I got the watch, I took the bracelet apart, cleaned it (it was very clean), I tried the leather strap....took a few photos, Im pleased with my hunt, this is why I like vintage.....you never know what comes your way.

Thanks so much for posting this! Love this style of bezel, and what a spectacular dial - It looks like the 6:00 lume is the only thing which is less than perfect. The mosaics are always lovely, and the color of this one remains SO vibrant.

It is my pleasure. For me, this is a hobby, and finding a watch and sharing it here it gives me a kick! You have a good eye, that lume plot at 6 its the only thing less than perfect. Hard to see it as its next to “swiss” marking, I missed it initially.

Thanks everyone for helping me make a decision, I do value the opinions here. This is not the best time to buy watches but, as you all said, the price was too good for such a rare dial.

Right now, Im gonna enjoy this puppy as it is. It keeps great time, it is within cosc, in the last 24 hrs. Maybe, on the long term, I am gonna refurbish the bracelet. These folded links bracelet are becoming rare and its nice to have one in good nick!

I think they call these 'Shantung' dials as well as tapestry.
I love 'em; especially the blue; How do you not buy at that price! The 2 bracelets and box are worth a pretty penny alone, nice score!

Hi, thanks! This is exactly what I thought.
Yes, they call them shantung or mosaic, tapestry is a little different......I prefer mosaic ‘cos its easier to spell.

This is such a classic look and I realize that i like the protruding crystal waaay more than expected. This is a timepeice that says: I have others in my collection but I today was a Mosaic Blue day. Love it!

Thank you! We play in the same “park”! I was surprised nobody else snapped it, but tbh times are hard.

Great pick-up! Love the blue dial.

I can confirm that leather strap is legit. Rare, but legit. In fact yours is only the second one I've ever seen. I bought one several years ago from the RSC in NYC for my 6263, before Rolex stopped selling loose parts. Your buckle is good too.

Ohhh, this is good news. I always wanted an original buckle and getting a brand new one with a strap is very sweet. The deal is better than I thought although I would have been happy with the watch only.
That strap looks amazing on your Daytona. I didn't know they take 19mm ones, I was under the impression they take a 20mm strap.

Yes, thanks! Vintage Daytonas are all 19mm, newer/modern versions are 20mm.

Here's another shot with the same strap you have. I love how it's slightly curved.

Thanks again for the input and photos! Your Daytona is stunning.
My assumption was that Daytonas would be 20mm.....I never dreamt of going there anyway out of my league!

So, I can just say: “guys my OP has a rare mosaic dial and a strap that fits Paul Newman’s watch!”
