Frankenwatch?
Hi All,
My Dad recently bought a vintage Rolex, but I think it might be a redial or frankenwatch... Hands seem wrong? Markers too far from luminous pips? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! |

It is a repainted dial and likely newer hands.
Hard to say if any thing else has been replaced.

If you found an original, untouched, example, you wouldn't wear it, you would put it in a museum.

This. It's a very well re-detailed dial (or possibly a replacement from Rolex), and the hands are fine. Just let him enjoy it.

This is one of those times when total honesty could be harmful. Just make the positive points of how the movement is still working after 60+ years and Rolex lasts a long time.

To be honest, I like the fresh look of the dial; they did a really nice job of reworking the dial. It really livens up the watch and doesnt effect value much at all.
The hands are definitely later service hands. If you want original style hands, they are not hard to come by.
