Does an engraved case back affect value
Hello everyone. I am looking at a beautiful 1969 5513...it is really nice and in great condition...It has someone’s name engraved on the case back. Does that’s affect value much if at all? Thank you in advance!

Most engraving is light and can be removed if the owner wanted

I think it's a relatively minor issue, maybe a few hundred $ at most.

It depends....but it comes to vintage Id say it can add to the charm. But some people do not want another name attached to their watch.
If its a modern watch, it an easy fix: new caseback or a polish. With the vintage I would not want to change the caseback as it can have important markings to date the watch it show service history.

Depends on the name and/or inscription.

I think that this old one is worth a lot more for it's engraving.

If it's some random person's name or wedding date, then I say definitely affects value as I wouldn't want a watch with some random inscription.

I found this engraving part of the history of the watch. From My buying experience, I don't see any decrease in value for those watches with engravings.

If it says "M. Brando" on the back, you're stylin'.
Or better yet: "Drive Carefully Me" Seriously though - it won't hugely affect the value, and could add to it.

Some engravings might actually add to the value...
