Need help for 15300 and 15450

Hi guys. Your help is much appreciated. I am in between 15300 pre-owned or 15450 new from AD boutique at similar prices. 15300 is 1-2k more expensive than 15450. I am considering white/silver color for both models. I am not an AP guy and I know blue dials are more expensive and more popular but what would be your choice in terms of esthetic, dial color, and etc. in both models? I do not like the blue color much in 15300 but I like blue in 15450. This would be another stupid question but I am kinda between blue and silver for 15450 if I lean toward 15450. If you guys tried both 15450, I would be also happy to hear your opinions about the two colors.
Also, related to the caliber, 15300 and 15450 use same 3120 caliber but is there any difference or update in calibers between these two models?

I think it really depend on how big is your wrist.

The 15300 with 39mm diameter always more desirable for collectors.

Next to each other the difference doesn’t look that big in terms of size, but I would say that the proportions feels more right on the 15300.

Price might be the same now, but on the second hand market If you ever think about selling it the 15300 is going to keep the value better.

The caliber 3120 is the same, but it has been upgraded since it was released in 2004 (?), so depending on whether the 15300 has been serviced at AP or not and which series it is - it might have minor differences that you probably won’t notice.

Admittedly I’m biased since I own a 15300, but I think the 15300 will be the recommendation from most WIS in here If you’re lucky enough to find one in a good condition. A good tip is to read the sticky guide in this forum.

Thank you so much! Caliber wise, not sure if there are updates in the parts and not sure if I can get any info but I might contact with AP I guess. Also, I am not sure if those possible minor updates make difference. I guess I am leaning toward 15300 but the thing "good condition" seems a bit hard. Basically, another question in my mind is being the first owner, getting it from AD for 15450 or having pre-owned, a bit risky purchase if there is no a good condition in the groups (there are many in CH24 but I can't trust most of them). I have a blue dial 15450 and a silver dial 15450. I also have a black dial 15300.

I have a slight preference for the 15300 but the blue dial of the 15450 really is spectacular. The 15450 is smarter than the 15300 in my view, with the 15300 feeling a bit sportier due to the size.

So if you want to wear it with a suit and generally dress-up then maybe go 15450 blue. If you’re going to be wearing it as a daily with dress-down then maybe go 15300.

It’s nice to buy new if possible, but not too risky to buy used, just buy from a trusted seller and get it serviced if going down the used route.

Token74 has been a champion for the 15450 and is the voice to hear regarding these two models. My own opinion is to go with a new watch from the AD and, if you can score it, get the blue dial. White/silver dial would be my second choice.

Obviously it also depends on your wrist size. When I tried the 15450 I could not close the buckle, and I guess I would need to buy an extra 3 or 4 links to fit my 7,25 in wrist.

I’m a big 15300 fan. The proportions are perfect and the 39mm size seems to work on a wide range of wrist sizes. I’m not a huge fan of the thickness of the 15450 relative to its smaller case size (the ratio of thickness to case size just isn’t as desirable to me).

I think the 15300 can be quite dressy though if you need it to be, since it’s so thin it’ll easily slide under any dress shirt cuff which is sometimes an overlooked factor IMO.

I'm in the 15300 camp but very nearly bought a 15450 as I couldn't find a 15300.

I owned a 15300 10 years ago and sold it then I bought a 14790 36mm with the similar thickness to the Jumbo found it slightly too small and the bracelet slightly to thin. I'd have a 15450 if the 15300 didn't exist. For me its perfection.



And my old 14790 for comparison.
