I finally found a decent 16710 Coke this week!

I'm pretty excited! I was looking for a place to take my mom's Rolex into get serviced and based on some suggestions from people here I called up Swiss Watch Expo in Atlanta. While on their website looking for their phone number, I figured I'd do a quick search and see if they had any Pepsi GMTs in stock. I have been on the hunt for a 16710 Pepsi GMT for several years, but haven't found a decent example at a agreeable price.

I did order a 1990 Coke GMT 16710 a few years ago from another online retailer and when it arrived it had been way over polished and the pics on the website were not of the actual watch. That really annoyed me and I sent that one back for a refund.

So fast forward to this week. I saw a great looking U serial (1997) Coke 16710 on their website and to my surprise it wasn't outside of my budget. Bonus points were that this one has the "SWISS" only dial, which I really like and case lug holes, which I have always preferred if I was to buy a GMT. This one has the serif numbers on the bezel too, which I don't see as often. The more I thought about it, the more I like the Coke over the Pepsi and I can always swap the bezel inserts if I want, so this was a no brainier. I called the store and made an appointment to see the watch and drop off my mom's watch for service. After looking it over, I made the purchase!

The Swiss only dial is transitional dial with luminova and mostly found in U and A serial. Not many of them are made. You made excellent choice.

Nice choice- well worth the wait for a nice example. Love the Swiss only and serif bezel.

Kudos to you for being patient!

Congrats! GMTs are my favorite. Coke is overlooked so many times with the Pepsi hype. But Coke has its own place as a legendary piece.

Love your username. Even based on that, I do see hope for you. You are coming over to the dark side (GMTs)!

It’s rare to see the chamfers intact on older models, isn’t it?

I never heard of the "SWISS only" dial thing. Just looked and that's what mine is, too. I bought it new in January 2000, and always assumed it was made in 1999 - how long were the Swiss only dials made?

Mostly U and A serial from 1998-1999/2000. So yours is correct
