Tell me about your Explorer 2 !
So I saw a gentleman at the store today wearing a Rolex 216570
Now I’m kind of interested in that one too haha My wrist is 6.75 inches Do you think I can pull it off? My daily is a 36mm Datejust Also, does the explorer 2 wear a lot bigger than a 6 digit submariner? Lastly, post any pics of your explorer 2! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s just how my wrist is shaped. It’s has this weird bend so it makes all my watches appear way too tight but I can fit my full Middle finger between the watch and the wrist. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My wrist is 7 1/2 inches. I think you might struggle with the 216570

I agree with this...I have 7.25 wrist and definitely wouldn’t want to go any bigger. It wears large especially the Polar...but it is a truly proper Rolex tool watch. Tough as hell and GMT Function to boot.

16570 is the jam. Works for me, and I have 8” wrists, but definitely fine for 6.5”. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend.

Could be worse. You could have 7.25 inch wrist where almost the entire Rolex lineup form 36-44mm is wearable. Damn these expensive wrist I am cursed with lol. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The explorer ll 216570 even though it’s only 42mm wears larger then my 126600 SD43. The lug to lug is larger. To me it the explorer ll wore like the 43mm and the SD43 wore like a 42mm. If that makes any sense.

You think so? I think the DJ36 is his sweet spot. Maybe he could wear a 39mm, or a 5 digit sub. I don’t know if any of the 40mm + 6 digits would fit his wrist that well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Schoolboy, the 42 mm is way too big for your size wrist. I suggest the 40 mm 16570 polar. Beautiful watch boy. I had my heart set on the 42 mm so I tried it and it looked too big on my 7 3/4 in wrist. Going to get the 40 someday soon. Best of luck.

I also think the 42mm Explorer II would be a bit much. That 36mm DJ looks like your ideal size, at least from that photograph.
If you take a look at the Rolex website...look up the Oyster Perpetual. Configure one with the 36mm case. You'll see there is a white dial option. It is a classic, simple watch. It may not have the sports feel you are looking for, however. If you could find the 36mm Explorer, that would be excellent for you. Black dial, only. Classic model (and Ian Fleming wore one, if that matters to you). The current Explorer is 39mm. The 36mm Explorer gets a lot of love here, an iconic model. And, for you, perfectly proportioned. Full disclosure: I tend to think that overly large watches run the risk of wearing the person, rather than the person wearing the watch. Many other people like the look of a massive watch. So, it's just a matter of taste, and that's entirely subjective. In the end, get what YOU like and what looks and feels right to you. And, there's no substitution for trying on watches to figure that out. |

I know a lady that was selling a new old stock 40mm explorer 2, but maaaaan, she wanted $13,000 i think. That was about a year ago. I guess I could check in and see if she still has it, but i don’t wAnt to pay a huge premium like that. And I’m always nervous about buying a used watch. |

One of my favourite watches. It wears quite flat on the wrist, more subtle than a GMT II or Sub.
Lug to lug maybe a bit wider. If you think 42mm is too big, try to get a 40mm BNIB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you still have it or did you sell it? How do you think the bluesy wears on your wrist? When I was picking up my HULK they had a bluesy in the case. I always liked them but I’m not a huge two tone sports Rolex fan even though they do it the best in the business. Maybe id get a CHNR if I could ever try one on in person. I save the flash for my dressier watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
