I want a new gold watch ... suggestions?

Hi everyone, at the exciting time of looking for a new purchase currently, and after some suggesrtions!

I have a range of steel models, but i'm just going to include my pm's for now, i currrently own:

16618 YG black dial Sub.
326938 YG sky dweller, silver dial
116506 Play daytoina Diamonod dial
228238 YG dd40, champagne baton dial.

So i'm looking to add one more pm piece. Yellow Gold i think, as it's my personal favourite choice. I've recently actually been looking at the dd40 white gold meteorite dial, which i love, however its proving elusive. i'm not actually a massive fan of white gold, but this one is a stunner.... however i don't do waiting lists i want to buy something now! i can't purchase from USA because of the import tax.

other than that im not sure what else to look at, i don't like AP, not hugely keen on patek, and i don't like rose gold.

is there any YG Rolex models i could have forgotten about/ not seen before?

You missed a 116508 from your list. Also depends on your wrist size.

If you are somewhat open to WG, how about a GMT meteorite? That's a hell of a piece and quite special.

Me too, love this watch. My grail was always the platona but after owning this watch I’m not so sure I’ll ever get a platona

And just to make sure, none of the FPJ's do anything for you especially that gold movement?

On your list it's already pretty solid. I might have suggested black dial YG Daytona, but you already have Platona. Might suggest swappign the 5 digit black dial sub for the YG blue sunburst dial.

Otherwise, maybe YG Green Dial Daytona to add some dial contrast to the collection, much in the same walk the SS Hulk does for most collections.

i do not actually know much about the brand, do you have any reference numbers?

love all the pics of the 116618LB its one ive considered many many times, actually came close to buying one not along and passsed, then the price jumped a few grand. defintley a contender though.

And i have considered trading in the 16618 to a 6 digit, its in such an immaculate condition i dont really wear it.

I don’t see the point in buying a white gold one if I was in the market for one it’d be for something like this in my opinion perfect

+1 on this. I’ve seen them in windows of 2 different ADs recently so I don’t think they are hard to get.

I would get rid of the 16618 Black Dial and get a 116618LB Blue Sunburst dial.

Then after that I would try to get a YG GMT Green Dial. Then you will have the PERFECT 4 watch PM collection in my honest opinion.

1) 228238 YG DD40
2) 116618LB Bluesy
3) 116718LN Green Dial
4) 326938 YG sky dweller, silver dial

Best 4 PM combo that you can possibly have. I'm on the lookout for a YG Green Dial GMT as we speak as well. Hard to find a MINT/NOS one at the moment.

Enabler picture for you.

i'm not sure if green dial is my thing, i like more of a monochrome type feel typically, but it does limit my options. might give the green daytona another look.

I know what you mean with the green. I owned the Hulk 3 times and sold it off 3 times but that was more to do with the bezel color not the dial.

If green is not your thing I'd 100% be looking at a YG Daytona with the champagne and black subdials otherwise even the YG GMT black dial is very very nice.

yes i agree, its much better with a gold bezel.

yg daytona has also been another option but i do find on my platinum daytona i do miss having the date on there, i would really love another day date, maybe platinum daydate... but then i have two with the ice blue dial and i think one is enough. On the 6 digit GMT im not too keen on the numbers on the bezel.

i did like the look of the rose gold choc dial sky dweller but every time i try rose gold on i dont like it.

decisions decisions...

maybe rolex will bring out a totally new model next month... ha...

Can’t get enough of this one. If you can get it, definitely worth consideration.

Suggest Patek Calatrava. Great looking and timeless.

Yes, my Calatrava currently is the 5227R-001 in Rose Gold. But all, new or preowned, are beautiful and go great with a suit. I have several Rolex, but find them too bulky to wear with a suit, except the Day Date which looks just fine that way.

All the best.

116718 Green Dial Anniversary GMT - stunning watch. Never thought I’d buy a YG watch until seeing this one.

I would look at the 5227 with the officers case back. Neat design as the hinge is built in and not noticeable.
