Going to my AD today to try on the Exp II

I have been collecting for quite some time and I have gone back and forth over the years on whether I should add the 216570 Polar. I have most of the desirable SS Rolex sport watches already. My AD, who has procured many of the most difficult watches to acquire for me, called me and asked if I wanted the Polar Exp II. I tend to love the bigger watch size as I sold two DJ 36 and added the DJ 41 and love the size of my DJII.

I am hoping that I will have a strong feeling one way or the other on this watch. I have researched the forum on the Exp II. Many love it but felt it was too big for them or they love it. If I pull the trigger, I will say that my Stainless collection will be complete.............unless something blows me away in the future. I do wonder what Rolex might do with this reference for it's 50th anniversary and for this reason I am also a little concerned about adding the current version.

What say all of you?

If the 216570 feels/looks too big for you, the 16570 might be a good alternative!?

For me it’s a nice watch to look at in a watch box for diversity ( orange hands) but rarely would make it onto the wrists.

If it's for you it will be instantly apparent. It's a watch I personally love (it was my first Rolex) but like anything else, you have to decide for yourself. If you can get a look with the lumes glowing against the white dial in low light it's something you likely won't forget.

A great watch.

I don't see it being updated/upgraded any time soon, but the good news is, if it is, the present version will suddenly be infinitely more valuable.

I think it's a great watch and often overlooked. The size and fit work perfect for me. I think it screams for outdoor activities, hikes etc but can be worn for anything.

I tried it on once and it fit really well. The look just didn’t knock me off my feet so I passed on it. Every time I see a picture I always say to myself how it’s a good looking watch. I might end up adding one later on. I don’t know why in person it didn’t do much for me when pictures make me really dig it.

Super versatile watch, different, functional, and the stainless bezel complements nicely (especially if you’re accustomed to black or ceramic bezels). Go for it!

I think it’s a spectacular watch, my only concern is the inevitable addition of ceramic next year for the 50th anniversary.

I think they will add ceramic next year, so I am waiting for the call to buy one before they do

I really hope they don’t add ceramic. There are plenty of ceramic options already and the SS bezel keeps true to the tool roots of the Explorer range. Steel is probably better suited for the watch too compared to ceramic based on what the watch is designed for (granted that most wont use it for this in any event)...

An updated movement will probably be used in a new edition, there may even be a tweak on the design and a reduction in case size. I’d welcome a return to the 40mm size, but that said, the current size wears surprisingly well.

We may not even see much change to the model - like the Kermit for the 50th Sub they may release a special edition version whilst the current models stay in their current format. Only Rolex knows what the future holds, so if you like the watch as it is I’d buy one while you can!!

Agree but for the watch I think the brushed steel bezel is the way it’s meant to be. Bring on the ceramic it’ll make our 216570 more popular! My favorite reference truly

I think it is a great watch and very unique as a white dial. The hands make it very legible and I believe that it wears flat to the wrist when adjusted. This is a collectible watch that has been overlooked for years. I also like the black dial. This Explorer II could be a one and only for me if I had to make a choice in the collection. Get it, you will not regret it.

I used to think it was kind of pointless to have both. But....having had my polar now for a few months, I want a black...in addition to my Polar.

I say it may be the one you actually wear the most ....

Have both black and white .Like both .Forced to pick one ,Polar just for the fact that I have many black dials .

White dial Rolex is more Polar than white dial Daytona for me .

My ExpII would be my “if I could keep only one” watch because of the GMT function and because it’s less common, but my Sub gets way more wrist time because...well, I can’t describe it. But I’ve also come to appreciate the smaller size of the sub, despite having 7.5 inch wrists.

I wear it more than anything else. GMT, clean dial, date, all steel, brushed bracelet. Can’t go wrong. Never liked it, slowly intrigued by it about a year ago then fell in love when I tried it on.

It’s a great watch for sure I enjoy the presence of it on my wrist. I like the orange hand the most on the watch. I think you should go slap it on your wrist and see if it sings to you.

The Polar EXP2 42mm is a great and ascending reference!

Sounds like a great opportunity to acquire one from your AD without a wait.

Interesting. I find it wears small for 42mm, and feels smaller than my 41mm Tudors. It’s also my most comfortable watch and if I had to get down to only one watch it would be my pick, even over my Daytona.

It’s a great looking watch, just too big for my small wrist...it looked like the watch was wearing me when I tried it on.

I think it's a great choice and the fixed, steel bezel of the Explorer II is one of it's defining traits.

If you love the size of the DJII, I am sure you will love the Explorer II.

I recently tried on the Polar ExpII back to back with the new GMT BLNR on Jubilee and if given the choice to buy one, I would’ve went the Explorer II. It’s a perfect watch.

Me too,but for the past few months I have been wearing the following in rotation :

16613 bue
116660 DSSD
PAM 422

I wear on instinct ,dont think about it .
Many fancy "desirables" not in rotation .
Says a lot ,doesnt it.

I hope they don’t update it with a Ceramic bezel, would be such a shame to loose it’s appeal and the thing that makes it different. Just needs to reduce in size a little.
