Ceramic Kermit No Stock

The new releases came out today so I went to the local AD.

They open at 10:00, I arrive at 10:01.

Me: Hi good morning, could I please have a submariner with green bezel

AD: Sorry there’s a waiting list

Me: How is this possible? It’s a brand new model and you only opened the store 1 minute ago

AD: It’s not released yet

Me: Ok, can I order one please?

AD: Scurries off to find a pen then comes back with a scrap of paper to write my name and number on.

I’m not very optimistic that I’ll get a call!

You arrived a minute too late appears

You didn't really expect to walk in and pick up a new Kermit did you?

I wasn’t expecting one at all, I already knew the answer but thought I’d give it a try as I was at the mall anyway.

Just highlights that AD's are all about lists and favors, even though no one should have known about the Kermit before you entered, the AD did, VIPs did, and now you're maybe in line

Sad but true. Pisses me off but there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Happens all Over the world too.

I don't think anyone knew or had the inside line. I doubt Rolex leaks that stuff. I do think that ALL AD's just "have a list" and it doesn't really matter what new model comes out it is going to go to their "list" first. I am confident most on that "list" are the grey dealers first.

Technically, AD isn’t allowed to disclose the new models before 1st sep to customers (vip or not).
If OP is the first person into the AD that day, he should be allocated one (technically) otherwise the AD is inadvertently admitting the broke the rule and leaked the information out to their VIP customers ?

Doesn’t that risk their AD status?

Wow imagine thinking that these businesses care about arbitrary un-enforceable rules Rolex theoretically sets for them.

good lord. there is no "rule" ("technically" or otherwise). they haven't received the watches yet. they don't have to keep a waitlist and do "allocations" at all if they don't want to. and if they do they don't have to allocate them based on how quickly people walk through the door.

ADs know exactly who there VIPs clients are and they know their likes and dislikes. Otherwise ADs wouldn't be doing their job (besides selling watches).

in ADs' mind they've already placed the VIPs on their list prior to any announcements.

because ADs know if VIPs call asking they will be able to serve them and make them feel special (and hopefully buy more) "no worries I got you on the list already" or "you don't like? no worries" - because they can sell it easily

So no risk. no leaked information

I believe this is true. Why wouldn't they when they can get extra for those units. Unless someone complains to Rolex, this will never change.

DavidSW will have all the new Subs listed very soon. Likely at a very onerous markup. Pay to play or cry all the way home limp wristed.

I don’t know, I’m a long time DavidSW customer and have noticed his stock go down.

The new Kermit is smok’n hot; even the greys will have trouble getting their hands on it. I wouldn’t be surprised if investors swoop in and ask 3x retail.

Bark and Jack did a video where Adrian had a theory that investors where buying up all the Explorers to control the market. That could happen to the new Kermit, too.

One minute after store opens, there is a waiting list.

Of course, he must have been talking about the many others who are on the list for a Sub already. (They didn't cancel their orders, you know. )

I always thought if it’s a new watch and reference number, it should be a seperate list. I guess I might be wrong.

My AD has told me that there is no rush for me to get on the list as they will not be operating a first come first served policy.

So conformation that the first watches will go to VIP's & big spenders, whilst I have history I cannot consider myself a big spender so a lengthy wait for a Sub of any description via my AD beckons.

Meaning it is a nice way to get you off since there is not “big spenders”

AD will buy it and sell it for double.

I have to believe this is true with the majority of ADs.

My guy actually called this morning to discuss new releases. We were talking about the event a week or two ago and I told him what I would / wouldn't be interested in, all on the assumption these were hypotheticals. When we spoke this morning he called to double check that the green sub is what I wanted. Said they were very busy yesterday/today taking non-stop inbound phone calls while reaching out to valued, existing customers to see what they wanted from the new releases.

I am just glad to see new supply is already hitting stores. I know I won't be getting one of the very first ones, but glad to see it's not going to be months until those start reaching ADs.

AD didn't tell you that there's still a waiting list for the 114060/116610 never mind the new models.
