40 year waiting list for the new Sub

Rang my local AD, apparently they get 4 black subs a year with about 150 people on the list at the moment...

To quote "I doubt you'll be getting one from us"

Looks like I'm in the market for a maxi case or 5 digit...

And where does your name jump to if you added a Datejust or two?

And you're still at #150? Must have a ton of high rollers where you live. I've been quoted significantly more modest wait times at my AD in Vegas for more desirable pieces, including their PP front.

Question, would there be more new inventory available through a larger Rolex dealer in a major city? Like New York City, Washington DC, etc.?

If you can try on the 5 and 6 digits I would do that first. They are vastly different watches in terms of wearibility.

The heft and bulk of the supercase swung me toward buying 5 digit but you may prefer that.

Sounds like Just a matter of time Before the current Subs skyrocket. I recall the 6 digit introductions of the Subs 10+ years ago did very very well during a recession.

Nothing wrong with the maxi case or 5 digit, only a Rolex aficionado will actually be able to tell the difference between all references, i wouldn't wait 40 years and try on the others if possible to gauge a preference.

I’m not sure about the UK, but I’m sure it’s the same as here...and I figured it out long ago, it’s all about the relationship you build with your AD. Period. It takes time, patience and just a little bit of money. LOL! Yes, I’ve spent a healthy amount in watches and jewelry for almost 20 years now with them, but what’s more important is that I’m friends with my AD and text with him all the time just to shoot-the-shit sometimes. The relationship is key.

Meh, I can get one on my wrist before Christmas if I go through a trusted seller which is what I would do if I wanted one.

Kind of getting done with Rolex. Between the pricing and the forcing of my friendly local dealer to stop selling the brand, I’m approaching the point of being over a 20 year plus love affair with the marque.

It’s was fun. Saw a lot of great watches. Had some good times.

But, facing a world of high end mall and urban AD’s who won’t discount and will play games with inventory is about as appealing to me as Dental Surgery without anesthesia.

Sure. If I ever run into a Sub at retail. I might be tempted to spark the flame again. But that is pretty unlikely without looking around, or paying inflated GM prices.

I’m pretty content with other brands now. Rolex is still a beauty. Just not my type anymore.

I like the new ones but I won't rush to buy. If Rolex will make them impossible to get so be it. Thank you very much.
