How Fragile We Truly Are - Part 2
Many of you read the previous post regarding my friend Scotty and his inoperable brain tumor. I saw him last night and it was heart breaking. In the last week, he has lost vision in his left eye and is having problems finding words and putting together a coherent thought. He has 6 weeks at the outside according to specialists.
Now another coworker, while in the midst of processing his retirement paperwork, has suffered a massive heart attack and has passed away. In the course of two weeks, I have lost 40+ years of friendship. I am beginning to hate 2020....

Sorry to hear this. Unreal how fast things can turn.
My cleaning woman that’s been with me nearly 10 years, 4 girlfriends, one wife, 5 different locations and 4 dogs was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago. He daughter called me yesterday to say she died, yesterday. I’m heartbroken.

I neglected to mention the endless overnight guests. So yeah, there was a good amount of clean up. Truly tho, she wasn’t that good at her job. But she was an amazing person and we became close. She was also great with the dogs. And I trusted her in my home. Which is rare these days. I’m thinking about a scholarship for her daughter who is currently in college.

Paul and Seth, very sad to read of your lose. Life is fragile, I’ve learned that lesson too many times to count. The one lesson I always take is too cherish the time you have with those you love and make the most of it. We go through the day spending so much time on things that in the end hardly matter and in the end we wish we had more time with the things that do.

Condolences for your loss.
It's been a very tough year for a lot of folks and to lose so many years of friendship is very tough. Do keep those memories of your friendship with those coworkers close to your heart and appreciate each day. My prayers for you. |

I feel you. A managing director of my firm (who I grew close to) dropped dead at 52 of a heart attack. Was emailing him on a Saturday an hour later he went for a run and passed
My father caught covid and gave us a scare with his hear (it can attack it) He has luckily recovered |

My deepest condolences to you both.
This past week I lost a customer who I have developed a relationship with over the last 5 years. She was fine just a couple of weeks ago. We weren’t closer than a business relationship but it’s heartbreaking because she has a son about my age and I can’t imagine what he’s going through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The hardest part for the families and friends is sometimes Covid restrictions make services closed. So the inability to share a respectful goodbye adds to the already high stress levels.

Paul, I’m so very sorry for your losses, truly heartbreaking. We’re all here for just a speck in time and these losses reinforce how fragile and fleeting our time is.
Material things mean nothing, it’s the family and friends and how we treat them that mean everything. It sounds like you don’t have any regrets in that regard and that’s a good thing. Godspeed to your friend.
