Day-date 40 bundling

Hi everyone,

I am planning to purchase a Day-date 40 in everose with chocolate or olive dial to celebrate a career milestone.

I have been in contact with my regular AD and they are unable to offer any discounts on this piece. However they would be able to pair / bundle up a BLNR immediately if pulled the trigger. I asked if they could swing a steel Daytona instead and the answer was 'definitely no', however a BLRO or 126610LV could be possible but I'd have to wait a few months.

My question is, is this bundling up a BLNR a good deal with a DD40 or should I be aiming for something more difficult to get such as a Daytona or BLRO? Would also be interested in what you guys have managed to obtain with your DD purchases.

Thanks in advance!

Dd40 ever rose chocolate are running <1 k less than ad retail, so def unlikely any discounts. I would go with watch you really like to bundle with it. I’m sure you know, Lv or blro is worth more on grey Market than Blnr but my advice would only buy what you like.

+1 for BLRO, I think it's harder to get than any of the others. I personally wouldn't bundle an LV, it was just released and there will be plenty of time for you to be on a waitlist for that separately.

BLNR isn’t easy to get, but tbh pair it with what you like the most. LV, BLRO or BLNR.. I wouldn’t mind waiting a few months if you wanted a harder to get piece. Which do you like the most ?

D-D 40 RG with Olive dial is hot item now, they can sell without bundle with SS sport models. Gray market is asking for more than msrp.

If AD let you bundle with SS sport models that is very good deal.

Yes there is also potential that they discontinue the olive dial at some point in the next 2 years - it was released for the Day Dates 60th anniversary 4 or so years ago. My AD is convinced they will.

Not to hijack this thread, but I’m in an almost identical situation. Want to buy both the DD 36 yellow gold/yellow dial and have been waiting for a 116500 for some time. Haven’t asked about bundling the two bc unsure how AD would take it. Is it reasonable to request this bundle combo?

the rg olive dial goes for way over retail right now so you're lucky to be getting it for retail to begin with, but i'd try to aim for the blro if you want that more

Fair. I’ll give it a shot; can’t hurt to ask.

Yeah. Why not buy the one you like the most and just let other fellow collectors purchase their watch they waited over 5 years?

Have you tried different AD's?

Hawk it around - after all I wouldn't imagine its every day someone walks through the door ready to chunk £30k+ on a watch.

I'd try to bundle it with the watch you prefer. Though perhaps one thing to consider is that your AD is going to get you the BLNR at the same time you purchase the DD. That makes the BLNR a sure thing.

The BLRO/LV being "possible" in a few months would make me think twice. Never know if months turn to years or to never. Though you know your AD best, so if you are confident with them, it should be ok.

But of course, in the end, the most important thing is to bundle with the watch you really like.

Hope this helps. You're in a great spot either way. Good luck and looking forward to pics.

Bundling ,such an awful word in Rolex world these days .
Sounds like it has something to do with laundry ...

It’s a solid watch and if you don’t want the blnr you can sell it for like $6k more.

I did a deal with my DD40, got $4k off on another PM piece I wanted. Use that leverage and don’t waste it.

And then the question is asked ,where do greys get their stock from ..

It comes down to a $6k discount on the DD40.

And DD40 gets sold 1k over MSRP which greys get total of $7k profit on one bundle deal. RIDICULOUS.

Bundling with BLRO makes sense even if the BLRO is promised in a couple of months. There is a better chance that you will get the BLRO much sooner than the Daytona. The Daytona may never happen as there are many buyers already on that Daytona list who have done the same you are doing.

I think people here are overestimating how much the olive green Day-Date 40mm get.

On Chrono24, new ones are in the low 40s. That premium evaporates after platform fees, assuming the price isn't even negotiated. And some of those "dealers" have to pay sales tax. The margins are thin.

It was readily available in display cases at one point and it will be again one day. Not every Rolex model will be hyped forever.

They already gave you a 'definite no' when you asked about the Daytona, and told you you could get the BLRO with a couple of months wait time.

Our experiences are irrelevant at this point. It's the dawn of a new era in Rolex land, my friend.

One more vote for BLRO over BLNR in bundle situation as a purely financial play for in kind discount.
