Compared the new Subs: LV & LN
The sales manager at my local AD contacted me today. They got in a shipment today that included the new Submariners. I told her that I was interested in the new LV and added my name to their list, but that I wanted to see the watch when they got one in.
I have to admit to myself that I’m not blown away by it. I could definitely get used to the LV, and I liked it very much, but I’m not sure it’s the clear winner over the LN. There’s something about the LN that’s just so classic that it may be impossible to beat. I think the LV will end up as more collectible over time, but I don’t want that to be the basis for my decision. |

I honestly hate the LV, previous and this version. Pepsi colors look elegant and age well/look neat. I just feel this blatant green looks completely out of place and odd.
The original Kermit looks cool as the bezel was aluminum and aged/developed a patina, but this one will look like this (essentially) forever. |

Maybe they’ll change the color over time. The 16610LV had some variance with the bezel over time. |

I thought it was just me.
I never understood the green, either in the kermit or the hulk. Green is actually my favourite colour but I just think it looks too much like a kids watch. I have a bad memory but I'm sure I remember being in ADs some years back and the LVs weren't very popular. |

If it’s going to have the same black dial, why not invest a tad more R&D to develop a red, orange, and pink bezel... and now split the available production into fractions. Instead of producing X green bezel Subs, you ship .25X green, .25X red, etc. Would make your color choice 4X harder to get, and you’ll have Rolex collectors going crazy to get one of each! As crazy as it sounds, pink bezel Sub would likely be an overnight sensation. |

That LV is quite ugly IMO.

I am not a green guy too but why are they worth so much if no one wears them.

Yep, I agree. While everyone clamors for the green one I’ll just get a classic LN and wear it happily every day. Still, everyone seems to love the LV, there must be something to it.

I’m visiting my AD a week Friday to view these two, can’t tell from pictures how I feel about the LV so need to see in hand to make a decision.

Long time ago pre-covid, I showed a pic of the hulk to my non-watch officemates. They all hated that green bezel too.

I was invited to take a look at the new range yesterday by the AD I've bought from.
In person, the LV is a very striking watch - the AD wears a Hulk and we compared the bezels and its almost identical in colour. After seeing the Kermit, I tried on the new Subs... To me, they are underwhelming - there's no vibrancy to them, and I don't know if it's because they're the display models Rolex sends out, but they also don't feel like a premium watch. My Air-King and my OP feel far more luxurious. |

I assumed the display models are the exact same watches you can buy but with no movement inside? What makes them feel worse than the old Subs? Genuine question. |

I also had a chance to compare side by side. The LN was the winner for me. The dial made the hulk special, I tolerated the bezel. With the washed out green and black dial together, it’s a little confusing from a design perspective.

I hope there are more people that don't like the new Sub. (LN&LV), so the people that really like them will have easier chance to get them.
I love both version of LN&LV, so I took them all. |

I think that the new watches are fine from pictures and I look forward to seeing them in person. I am not sure that I am a buyer but a Submariner is always a great watch.

Myself always buy watches I want to own and wear irrespective of some perceived collectability or investment so called value.

I agree. I guess that when I saw them in person, I liked the LV a little less than I expected but liked the LN more than I thought that I would.

Until they can get that pastel kelly green to appear a deeper shade (same as the yellow gold Daytona green dial), I would not consider it. For me the sub is a black watch, like there is only one speedy pro. I would consider buying the other colors, only after I have the real deal.

I really like what they’ve done with new Submariner line. I think the LV in particular, is understated and looks fantastic. That said, I opted for the classic 124060. To each their own

Brian, are you saying you already have a 124060 - or are waiting for one? If you have it already I have a couple of questions for you.

Loved the sunburst dial of the Hulk. The dial made the watch.
Not impressed at all with the new black dialed LV. If I were buying, the all black LN would be the way to go. |

It’s more of a letdown not giving the WG sub a colored dial. That’s pretty crazy in my opinion.
