RBR Alignment
I just had a detailed conversation with my AD and his watchmaker about what I thought was a misalignment between the RBR and the minute markers. Check out this example (sorry for the quality), noting the alignment of the minute marker at noon with the crown on the RBR:
We looked closely at several examples and it turns out that nearly all were like this to some degree! He mentioned that he's had a few customers ask already and it sure was a surprise to me so I thought I'd share. |

JJ, I think that Rolex should hire you to do QC for all the watches that they produce. And for any that may be "off" you could give it to members of the forum instead of trashing them!

You mentioned it in the right place.
JJ is notorious for his diligence with Rolex in terms of their resposibilities as far as quality is concerned. Rest assured this will be brought to their attention. |

That would annoy me too. Luckily my late Z sub missed the RBR - which is a plus in my book.

That's interesting, and you are MUCH more observant that I... I just checked my GMT IIc and it is also mis-aligned. The alignment of the R and X at 9 and 3 are fine.
I will post some macro's later. |

Agree with all on QC at Rolex. Lots of money spent needs lots of control given.

I think its the dial too - i read somewhere that the rehaut is part of the case so i assume it must be dial misalignment??

My two DateJusts are spot on, but my GMT IIc is slightly off as well, although not quite as much as yours. My YM is pre-RBR.

On mine it could not be the dial mis-aligned as the other engraving lines up. It is just the coronet at the 12 oclock position that is very slightly off (less than the original posters first pic).

You cannot mis align dials. They all have pegs attached to the bottom that fit into holes on the movement and screwed in to secure them. The whole movement would have to be off (this is possable) for the dial position to be off.
And you guys pay how much for these new watches? |

Update: After waitng a few months for the watch to break in, I visited RSCNY today for regulation (-5s/day when stored in fastest position) and for this issue. The woman who greeted me saw the misalignment right away and used the word "unacceptable". Within 15 minutes the watch was back in my hands regulated and with perfect alignment between dial, rehaut, and bezel. Time will tell if the regulation was as successful, but for now this story has a very happy ending.

Wow, one would think that with misalignment like that it would be a replica!

Ooooh, now that you mention it... I overheard another "customer" explain that he brought a watch in "as a favor for a friend". After a few minutes in the waiting room, he was summoned over to the counter. The woman explained to him that not only was the watch not genuine, but he wasn't getting it back, either. At this point things were obviously starting to get interesting, but it was time for me to leave so I don't know how the story ended.

During our visit to our AD in May the salesman was explaining to us that he had to get in touch with a customer for a similar matter. He explained that a fellow's wife brought her husband's Rolex in for a service and the watchmaker discovered it wasn't genuine. He was very anxious to speak with them. I don't know how that one ended either.
Glad yours got sorted out.
