Can a collection ever be complete?
After 8+ years of collecting, I believe that I finally reached a point where I think the collection may just be complete. I for once love TT pieces for their versatility and, thus, just added the 126613LB to the collection. I absolutely love it. It does not wear any bigger than the 116613 and indeed reminds me more of the proportions of the 16613. I did own all three but never have been as satisfied with any of the references as I am with this newest iteration. Which brings me to the point of this post. I think I may just be done collecting (for a long long time that is) and just wanted to thank everyone for their advise over the years. I know some of you may say that a collection can never be complete but I have never been this content.
Any wise thoughts appreciated. |

No! Tastes change. New watches are released each year at Basel World. A true enthusiast will always find another “must have“. It is the nature of the game.

A collection is complete upon one or the other:
- The proverbial, eternal celestial dirt nap. - Bankruptcy. In other words, as long as you can fog a mirror and have the money...it is never complete. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Nope! I know some one watch folks who have worn the same watch for 30 years. However if you’re a collector you enjoy the game.

Agree --never complete. Tastes evolve/change -- you may find yourself adding to or shrinking the collection, keeping same number of pieces, but swapping, etc. But I've learned to never say I'm done...

I don’t know but like your taste! Also have blue datejust, black sub and bluesy. Batman is the next I am eying. Was double thinking too much blue but they are all different enough.

I was thinking the same thing. Once I get a new watch, I always say it’s my last.
Then I hang around here, follow watch news and inevitably want something else. I hope I’ve bought my last watch, but then again, I hope I’m still passionate about watches to want more. |

I agree! All the blue ones have their own distinct character (and hue). Go for the Batman, it is one of the most comfortable to wear and incredibly handsome.

My collection will be complete when I get my next watch. Just as it was complete when I bought my last watch. And the one before that. And...

I told my wife just the other day that I will always be lusting after some watch, gun, fishing gear or car. We have been married almost 12 years. She has gotten used to it.

Watches, Yes, cars, no!
Prior, to getting my GMT matte, Radial Dial 1675, I would have said yes Since, I got that watch, the others sit in the Safety Deposit Box. Even, what used to be my favorite, the GMT 16750. Most of mine are matte, except for a Milgauss GV and a Submariner, no date, reference 114060. I look, and then I put on the 1675.

My collection is always complete. Until I acquire the latest must-have-and-yes-will-be-the-last watch! :)
Thankfully today I just sold my Omega seamaster 300 and Cartier Santos to free up space in the safe for other beauties! |

Never finished collecting. This is a hobby and our tastes constantly evolve. I just unloaded a big bunch of Rolex in feb to consolidate down to one Patek. Nature of the beast.

You can call it complete call it a job well done or i can see you tweaking the margins... 1) a rough and tumble watch for working out? 2) a watch for doing chores around the house like gardening, painting, car wash, moving stuff up/down stairs? 3) a square watch just to a slightly different dress watch? |
