My Sub Date 2020 Story with incomings
I got into Rolexes back in ‘18, and went to my local Ben Bridge/Rolex AD. Back when I was naive, I asked for a Daytona but they politely told me it won’t happen for a long time. Then I said “fine,” how about a Batman, and the AD said sure, but you’ll have to wait a bit. February 2019, I dropped by to check in and she had the Milgauss Z-blue in the display case. At that point I had accepted the “reality” that I would need to buy something else to get the coveted Batman. But, man, the Z-blue just looked too good and I pulled the trigger. Love that watch. When I was buying it, the AD said I’m next for the Batman and I’ve followed up a few times since then with no luck. It’s a small AD.
Fast forward yesterday, AD texted me asking what I wanted to get for my wife (I previously mentioned I’d want to get something for her). She said she had a 34 OP silver with YG hands/indices that she got a few hours ago. Wife instantly said yes, no surprise. My reply to AD was, “it’s nice, but do you have something for me?” She said “I got a sub date for you.” Now, I wasn’t really a sub guy, due to the fat lugs (especially compared to the Milgauss). But the new release got me interested. So I told the AD, “I’m in.” I picked up both watches today and fell in love with sub41 at first sight. I don’t have enough posts to upload pics. Dude congrats. Been in the same bot as you. Been holding out for a BLNR and decided to try for a new Sub. Was able to finally get one and love it! Congrats. To you and your wife.
