Question about Submariner

Im new to this forum, and I would greatly appreciate some help. I was looking at a Rolex Submariner w/date today and on the back of the watch there was no green sticker with the hologram, nor the number. I was wondering, is that something new or is this watch Im looking at a fake? Price tag is $4,500.00

The Green Hologram Sticker is no longer on the back of the case of the watch. There are a few Z series around with them, but all new models do not have this sticker any more.

That is quite correct. The stick on the back or the absence of it should not really be used as a measure of whether a watch is real or not.

There are a lot of other things to consider.

and welcome

Welcome to TRF,

Is the Sub new or used? pop up a picture or two if its online.

The other thing to do is note down all the numbers on the inside of the clasp and bracelet ends, if they end up wrong then its case closed.

If the seller has a serial number you can tell the year of manufacture from that. this will help you ID the year - http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=54362

Again welcome to a great place to hang out

Cheers,

Dave.
