Tough choice to make

Two Omegas, 1861 Speedmaster and a black dial Seamster

Or a Rolex Submariner (41mm)

All new from the AD. The Omegas are pretty much the same price as the Rolex due to discounts.

Problem is I love the two Omega's and will probably love the Rolex when I get to try it on later this month.

What choice would you make?

Sub 100%. The Omegas are nice but in the long run the Sub wins every time.

I own a Sub Date and love it, but might go Omega here. The 2:1 is nice.

Which one you love the most, go for that one.

Go for quality not quantity.

Don't go down that Rabbit hole like everyone else, avoid the common sub.

The omegas for me. Two fantastic watches.

p.s. just so you know, the new speedmaster is imminent. You should get >20% on that. Nearly 20% on SM.

Of course, which is why the two Omega's are basically the same price as the one Rolex.

I’ve been thinking about a Speedmaster. You think 20% off from an AD? I’ve never bought an Omega and no relationship with them generally. Thanks for any input!

The Speedmaster is what makes it a tougher choice for me. The Seamaster, although some are incredible, feels like is in a different league than the Sub.

Go with your initial gut feeling

100% the sub. Pick up the Omegas later individually if you still find yourself wanting them, they're much easier to find at a significant discount.

From what I hear this version of the Speedmaster is being discontinued.

Did someone say common sub? Lol...The Speedmaster is an iconic Omega so always a great choice. The sub is more difficult to come by so get a sub first and an omega in the future...

Those are nice omegas - I really like the new seamaster.

That being said...get the Rolex. The Omegas are readily available any time (and probably with a discount). The Rolex is, unfortunately, not.

Despite that I also like a lot Omega, those 2 ref are - imo - very uninteresting...Rolex then

Great question. Truly a tough scenario I've also pondered as well.

I went with the Rolex.

OP, did you notice that this a Rolex forum? So consider the bias. I have a Speedy racing chrono that is a vertical clutch/column wheel/co-axial movement, incredibly accurate and built for the long haul. It doesn’t minimize my love of Rolex, nice to have a variety. I don’t like the He escape wart on the new Seamasters, though. Even Tudor does a better job with that.

Sub. Why do Omega bracelets always look cheap?

Speedmaster has so many bracelet choices. (NATO straps? I believe)

I like this idea

But isn’t that Seamaster 43mm? If you can handle the size, then maybe go SD43. It’s just a more interesting watch than a black sub. Love the matte dial, and the red font...and you can add a rubber strap to the SD43.

If Seadweller isn’t an option, I would go Speedmaster and save for the sub also...but maybe get another flavor of sub other than black. We are lucky the iconic sub comes in so many color options. Perhaps your AD can source the new Kermit or a bluesy.

It’s easy to like black watches, but Rolex does color well.

I have tried the Seadweller on but found it to be abit top heavy in the short time I tried it on in the AD, let alone having to wear it a full day
