Another...Is this trade crazy?

My:

Black 116500 Daytona
BLRO Pepsi
126610LV Kermit

For:

WG GMT Meteorite

I’d still have my new white 116500 (checks the Daytona box), BLNR, and my Everose Yachtmaster.

I’m thinking this is a horrible idea but the other side of my brain really lusts for the Meterorite. My rationale...I like wearing the white dial Daytona better than the black so I can live without it, I don’t love the jubilee on the BLRO and will have the Meteorite to scratch the Pepsi itch, and I can live without the new Kermit.

Shoot me straight!

that's insane. no.

By market rates, you're overpaying by about $8k give or take.

Yeah I see your thought process...but just sheer value to value alone you would be out of your mind. That meteorite though is pure sexy.

That seems like a lot to give up for one watch! I wasn't under the impression that the meteorite GMT was that difficult to get. You could probably get the meteorite from an AD in a reasonable time (?) and sell those fine watches you already have for more. Think about it carefully before you sell those 3 great watches you already have. You should at least try a meteorite on first to make sure it floats your boat. Good luck. Cheers!

Yes it's bonkers. A wonderful watch to own but not for that trade.

Thanks, all. Appreciate the thoughts / weigh-in. Pretty much as expected since the three SS pieces are so hard to come by and I was lucky enough to acquire all three at MSRP, too.

If you look at the MSRP it will be a very good deal

Seriously, it is sufficient to sell the Black Daytona and the Pepsi and wait to get the GMT Meteorite from your AD (if you have all these Rolex you should also have a good relation with one or more ADs); with the collection that you have I will do this swap.

Your thinking here is exactly what I had in mind as another option. Thx!

Indeed, you own the white dial Daytona and you like it more than the black one, so to keep also the black Daytona doesn't make any sense as well as to keep the Jubilee SS Pepsi if you will get the Meteorite Pepsi.
To the contrary it is always nice to get a Sub in the collection and the Kermit is gorgeous, so I would not sell it.

BTW, the WG Meteorite Pepsi is the best GMT ever, IMHO

I hear ya. The question is really more of what will I wear vs long term collectibility. Long term, I think these 3 stainless pieces likely outperform the meteorite but it’s tough to say...and I’d wear the meteorite whereas these 3 don’t get much rotation time on the wrist. First world problems!

If you're valuing the meteorite at market price, you have to value your lot the same way. Bad deal money wise as is, but if you can work a fair deal I might actually consider it.

I don't think the value has to be compared at MRP. Even if you use grey prices, you're paying approx $10K too much. Just remember the WG Pepsi will scratch more and you might think you'll give it more wrist time but I'd imagine, like me, once the initial buzz wears off, you'll use it for dinners and special occassions - maybe one a week or so.

The meteorite is worth it. I know it’s a lot to give up, but trust me, it’s incredible. Maybe sell two, keep sub and add cash?

So you’ve got both Daytona’s and the BLRO. Do you think you’d miss ‘em if push came to shove and you still had the white Daytona and the Meteorite?

I do think I would miss them. That said, I rarely wear my Pepsi (steel) and white Daytona (I actually wear the black Daytona more!), and the meteorite I wear often, so in the end it might be worth it. In fact, I honestly have a hard time wearing a lot of my pieces and have thought about consolidating because sometimes less is more, but I keep hesitating (and I’m sure I’ll continue to add!). Whatever you decide, you will have a great collection. Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll try and post a pic tomorrow or them together in case helpful

Super helpful! Thanks for the feedback / input. You have a hell of a collection! Part of me hates to think about giving up some of the stainless grails (and owning fewer pieces)...but that meteorite dial is quite literally made from a finite resource...they won’t make this model forever. I have to imagine it will hold value well and it’s just so unique.
