Do Rolex even care?
Why do we work ourselves up with polls or demands or wants lists?
Red on the dial? Polished centres links? Date on a Daytona? Shade of blue on the TT Sub? SELs? New improved clasps? Does Rolex listen? On the evidence of Basel and the direction of their product evidently not. I still care about the brand and stand by it but I'm losing faith with the modern product (aside from the GV) and I find it tiring to get all worked up about watch sizes, date or non dates or whatever. Rolex will do what Rolex wants...they couldn't care less about us. Do you agree? J |

Well all I can say is you are right, however there are alot of buyers out there who are not watch nuts like us here that Rolex feels like they need to keep and aquire their busniess. True watch collectors like the fine folks on this site likely make up a small part of Rolex new sales.

In fact I'd say many of the well to do types who wear them don't have a clue either...Could the problem with Rolex be the brand Rolex? J |

I also agree polls and remarks will not make any difference. And honestly , I am happy for that. Rolex is Rolex and imho are still doing a superb job.
Also I feel there is nothing wrong with the new models from Rolex. DJII will be a big seller for sure, the GMTIIC is a top seller, even the new gold sub's are selling very good (better than the old model ?). Love the new Daytona dials (gold models) ! I agree the smurf blue is not as nice as the old deep blue. But that is a sacrifice Rolex made to be able to work with ceramic. Maybe in a few years they develop the skills to make ceramic as dark blue as the old. Which (new) models do you dislike ? |

That is a beauty Eddie and the only thing of recent times that has kept the fire lit.
A truly gorgeous (and still rare in the UK) timepiece! J |

Well, I am pretty sure Rolex monitors this website. AD's who are mentioned on here as giving discounts or shipping out of state are contacted by Rolex and dealt with.
Rolex may act aloof and above our idle chit chat, but I honestly believe they are interested in the postings on here. Rolex just wants us to believe that decisions are made in a vacuum, and they are independent of the concerns of people like us. Little to we know how much influence we could have, if we just organized a little more, and put some reasonable demands on Rolex. |

This forum is a minority when compared to the amount of Rolex's sold each year. There is also the case that many of the serious buyers on here would only be buying vintage which would in no way affect Rolex's current profit/loss. I can understand AD's checking it, perhaps Rolex techs but the head honchos ...no way! They would shift the same number of their watches regardless of our "input". That is my belief anyway! J |

Honestly, no one knows how much of the Rolex market is influenced by this website. I wonder if the moderators can give us an idea of how many hits this site gets in a week. I venture to guess in the tens of thousands. Remember, those who post are probably a smal percentage of those who visit the website. We should not under estimate the influence this website could have over Rolex. The internet as a democratization tool. |

Thats what they want you to think. What actions on here would result in legal action by Rolex? I never saw any illegality on here?

All of em
Just kidding...of recent stuff.. I don't like the DDII or DJII...the bezel seems too big and the face too small when compared to the case. I'm not all that passionate about the Deepsea...I know many love it but I prefer the SD to be honest. Any of the blingy diamond stuff. I don't like the smurf blue. What do I like? The plain dialled cos Cos...gold versions and rose gold are stunners. The Black TT Sub The MG especially the GV (best looking Rolex by a mile IMHO) One thing that I will surely be flamed for is that I preferred the old GMT. The ceramic one, whilst obviously a great watch just doesn't do it for me. Probably the lack of a Pepsi option and the bezel fonts. I'm turning into a rolex hater! |

Jim, I am not (yet) crazy about the DD/DJII either but for us there is still the DD and DJ which are still (in my book) one of the purest watches ever designed.
So that's the beauty of it. There is something for everyone now. Before the walll clock lovers had to shop elswhere, now they can buy a rolex DS or the new DD/DJII. |

Laughable IMO...43mm is far from a 'wall clock'. How so many people can look upon a 40mm Sub and state "Perfect" yet the minute 3mm is added all of a sudden we're talking 'wall clock' status. Everyone out there knows just how big 3mm is...right? Just checking. |

You are right of course, 3 mm is not such a big difference but still enough to attract the oversized watch crowd lovers to Rolex, so you misread my statement. I am not saying 43 is "wall clock" size but close enough to attract these buyers. And that is what Rolex needed to satisfy demand, so as I said before, there is something to make everybody happy.
Btw , I own a Chopard Mille Miglia 44mm, think it looks great. But this one mm more moves the watch in to "wall clock" territory imo. (it also looks much bigger than a DS) In fact I only used the term "wall clock" because a year or 2 ago I was at a dinner (some benefit diner for the local animal shelter). We were sat at a table with some older people. One saw my Chopard and said to his neighbor "look, this guy took of his kitchen wall clock and put it on his wrist". We laughed about it and that was that. But the frase stuck and he was kinda right. |

Cheers Jim.
I like the Airking and DJ too in white black and rhodium dials (do they still make those flavours?). I like it no nonsense. In fact although I'm not a fan, I can see why many Rolex owners are buying Pams....they seem pretty no nonsense although all the special edition stuff and fancy schmancy straps kinda defeat the purpose. Well??? The snowflake is done but still waiting for the new bezel insert. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow regardless and will return to have the new insert fitted if needed.
Now for the weather, I'm praying for no rain cause we're having a huge party at the house Friday night. Fingers are crossed. dP

A twenty year old watch is new to me so I don't pay much attention to the new ones. By the time the current watches become vintage, I won't be able to care.
