Box

Anyone ever bought your Rolex from the AD and when you get the call to pick it up they tell you they have no box for it? They told me they are mailed separate and when the box came in they would mail it directly to. Just seeing if this has happened to anyone else.

It happens... they aren’t shipped in those nice presentation boxes. My SA gave me hers — she had recently purchased the same watch — until another one came in for me.

It is true that the box does not come together with the watch. The boxes are picked off the shelf according to the watch. So it is technically possible that they ran out of boxes that correspond to your watch.

This is how I understood it, the watches and boxes ship separate and the AD matches the watch with the box and I thought I read it was based off a code that was on the white colored tag, in the past I have no idea how they did it, it seemed like they would just pick them from a display case they had whenever I went.

Rolex ships the watches in individual "coffins"; the AD separately packages the watch in the green presentation box and white sleeve.

Yea, the watches don’t ship in the boxes. Passed by my AD last week. He showed me a couple watches they received that he said are shipped without the boxes and they box it when they receive. Although, I find it strange they would send you the watch with no box.

It was a YM rhodium. Said box would be there in a couple days still waiting.

If it's an AD it's fine. Makes for a funny story though.

This happened to me last summer.

In my case, my AD had an older box that he could have given me at the time of purchase, but instead recommended that I wait for new boxes that he just ordered to arrive. I chose to wait, and pick up a new box about two weeks later. In the end I'm glad that I chose this option since it gave me another opportunity to have my bracelet adjusted and to share how much I was enjoying the watch.

They receive boxes separately from the watches. The boxes are generic and not tied to any particular watch, other than size of the box. I suppose it's possible that they ran out, but they usually have a bunch in the back to choose from. I wouldn't worry if its an AD.

There are different boxes for different models.

But you didn’t say that?

Similar thing happened to me recently. They had a box for me, but it was their last one. I offered for them to keep it for the next person so they have at least one to sell. They got me a replacement for mine in like a week or so. No biggie. Didn’t mind helping them out.

100% true. My 116519LN arrived with no box. Rolex is shipping watches together to ADs, insuring at high value and by a fast delivery method; and shipping the boxes for those same watches all together by a less expensive means than the watches are shipped.

I was told that point blank.

They suggested I wait until my box arrived to pick up the watch. And I did.

not box but my YM40 didn't have a papers and I had to wait a few days for those as the watch was procured from a sister store. Ultimately came with no issues.

I picked up a Wimbledon last week the same day it came off the truck. They had the box, but the manuals and warranty cards shipped separately. Supposed to get it in the mail once they receive it. It was an AD that I've bought 2 Rolex's from so I was fine with it.

Yep, this has always been the case as long as I’ve been buying. The AD should be keeping a plentiful supply of boxes in stock.

The boxes are shipped separately yes, however, usually they come before the shipment of watches .. but there are tons of reasons why that could be switched up ...in any case, you’re fine, no worry

Perhaps it was not an issue in the past when some watches did not move out the door as quickly as they do now - the boxes then "caught up" with the watches before they went to customers?
