Would you rather? SD4K or 126610LV

Thought this might be an interesting comparison. Which would you prefer, and why?

4K has perfect dimensions and is a future classic.
The LV has vastly improved lines too and a pop of color.

For most getting the 4K is going to be cheaper / easier.

Presently wearing my LV. It’s beautiful.

Two of my favorites but I’d prefer the LV based on comfort alone. Otherwise preferred my trusty SDc.

Black is classic. I made my choice.... Especially with Grey Pricing nowadays.

116600 -- $14k
126610LV -- $18k

the irony is you say : Black is Classic, but you proceed to immediately add a touch of color with bands

the LV has the touch of color built in ,and the classic black dial :)

enjoy the sd4k ! no wrong choices really

It's easier to add color to black, then add color to green

I want to love Sea-dwellers, unfortunately they just aren’t comfortable to me.

LVC for the win

Even the 40mm SD4k version? I would imagine one would wear fairly similar to a 40 / 41mm sub? But then I am perhaps not taking into consideration the protruding caseback of the SD4k...

I would read this:

https://www.horobox.com/en/review-de...e-rolex-divers

I did a long time ago... Best picture to compare is here:

That was a great, informative read. Thanks, every day is a school day!

I had a feeling the SD4k would have a more pronounced caseback but didn't realise the watch was over 2mm thicker than its Submariner cousin

I owned that version and the previous gen as well.

I'd say for me, the 5 digit wore the best of them all but then again it lacked the glidelock.

Every iteration I've tried wears a bit too top-heavy and yes the caseback does play into the comfort as well ,(for me).

Of the lot, I'd say the 166600 Dblue wore the best YMMV

Easy choice SD4K all the way. Best overall proportions on a modern sub!

Take away the limited run of the SD4K out of the equation, then it's the LV size and look. I think the SD4K will defiantly be more collectable in 10 years.

Both great choices! Personally I would choose the SD4K as it is a more versatile piece and Is classy and simple. Can’t go wrong with either of them in my opinion!

SD4K for me too. Classic colourway, the first SD with a ceramic bezel and the last in 40mm with no cyclops. Plus it's more understated and not remotely an "obvious" or "of the moment" choice.

(As a side point, I had a chance to buy one when it was the current model, but turned it down as I felt at the time it was too small. Sadly I was into wearing 44-48mm Breitlings at the time, so pretty much anything would've felt small! Been kicking myself ever since)

Only current Rolex without cyclops, correct? That’s pretty cool.

I wore the SD4k for a good two months, and I tried to like it, but man it was not comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. It looked good proportionally, but I think my ulna/radius relationship makes it so that "thicker" watches aren't too comfortable. I had the same problem with James Cameron and the Speed Master Professional on Nato. 40mm and smaller work best for me.

That said, I love my current 126610LV.

LV for sure.

sd4k is way too thick. I'd pick a modern 41mm sub any day over that.

The 126610LV by far. I didn't like the "Hulk" because it was too green. But now, just having the green bezel with black dial, not to mention the vastly improved case design, makes the LV a fabulous-looking watch, with just the right splash of color.

I owned the old SD4K for a while and could never get a comfortable fit on my 6.75 inch wrist. It's not too big, but the proportions and top-heavy weight didn't work for me. And I LOVE Sea-Dwellers and own a DRSD 1665 and a 16600, both of which are all-time amazing/classic dive watches.

When the SD4K was discontinued, most people assumed the price would sky-rocket because of the short run. Sure, it's gone up some in price, like EVERY Rolex, but not nearly as much as predicted. I think there's a reason for that. The fit is just not right for a lot of guys.
