Tourneau ?

Traveling to So Cal for work and may stop by a Tourneau. My first time in one of these stores even though they seem to be nationwide. I assume they are a legit Rolex AD. Any good or bad stories you can share ?

they are a legit rolex AD but don't expect to have any luck with sought after models and probably don't expect a great shopping experience

Yup, legit Rolex AD. You may not have success purchasing any s/s models walking in the store first time, but you gotta start somewhere.

They are very legit, but generally seem to be disliked. Overly corporate, rude, high turnover of sales people. I've never experienced any issues, but I've also never tried to buy anything from them.

I've never had a good experience at a Tourneau. I can understand the no discounting for Rolex SS but their blanketed no discount on any brand is a huge turn off.

IMHO, they stink. Also, I've found that the SA's have little to no knowledge of Rolex, and they have been rude, condescending, and accusatory. Years ago, I walked in one day wearing my Tridor Day-Date that has a factory authorized WG bezel (that was an option back in the day) which, to be fair, is a very rare bird. The watch has been serviced at RSC NY, so it's all genuine. The SA told me that Rolex never made a 2 tone President, and I said that she was right ... my Tridor is a 3 tone "Day-Date." Then she accused me of wearing a fake, told me that she should report it to Rolex, tried to convince me to buy a "real one" from her, and continued to argue with me about the authenticity of the watch. After a few minutes of this abuse, I asked to speak to her manager, informed him of what had transpired, and demanded an apology. Fortunately, the manager had a decent Rolex knowledge base, agreed that my Tridor was the real deal, and had the SA apologize. Just an awful experience, and I will not patronize Tourneau again.

Not all Tourneaus are AD's for Rolex, although most do have used Rolex on display.

Tourneau is a high-volume, SA commission outfit. They are not known for their customer service.

I've not found rude sales people, but I've seen some ridiculously priced pre-owned there. I always just get a queasy feeling when I'm in one of those stores. Can't explain it. Just feels like a department store for watches. Not the AD experience I like.

It IS a department store for watches, maybe not Nordstrom, more like Macy's, but it's definitely a department store for watches.

I’ve had a completely different experience with TOURNEAU on Madison and 53rd. It’s been a pleasure to work with them since day one.

There are two guys in the pre-owned section that could go toe to toe with a lot of the folks here with their knowledge on Rolex, Panerai, Breitling and any of the other watches they have in that showcase. In fact, those two guys really kicked off my interest in all watches.

Also, that location’s Rolex salesmen are the most down to earth I’ve dealt with. They’ll chit chat with you over the state of Rolex supply, the models they have in the case, on their wrist, your wrist, whatever.

If you’re going to hit a TOURNEAU, make it the location on Madison and 53rd.

I’ve never once been helped at that location in the Rolex section, and i’ve been there a handful of time. No one rude, just never been approached or asked if i needed help at that store even when no other customer was in that section.

They are fantastic if you are willing to spend 30k to buy what's in the case to get the piece you really want.

Funny thing, I have had nothing but success with Tourneau. As others have said...Everything is based on location and specific store. Just like with many ADs.

Will echo what others have said. They are legit, they usually have a huge (non Rolex) selection (and solid pre owned), and I rarely have had a good customer service experience with them (although I have purchased from them). In general I find the SA to be a bit rude (trying to constantly size you up), pushy, and not very knowledgeable. Some are better than others and I’ve had some pretty good conversations with a few, but not my favorite spot.

Legit, and worth a look. Service can be hit or miss. At this point no one buys a Rolex because they want good service as AD's are maybe doing us the favor of even talking to us. The watch itself only matters nowadays. Good luck.

I have had good experiences in the stores here in NY. Every SA I have encountered has been friendly and helpful. They are actually my go to AD as of late.

Both of my purchases were from the Tourneau Rolex at Southcoast Plaza, its separate from the Tourneau. I am not going to lie my experience started off rocky there but once I met the right person it has been great. I actually consider the Rolex store there separate from Tourneau.

Tourneau’s reputation sucks yet if Im not mistaken they are the largest US watch dealer. Definitely has a department vibe. They’re not my fav but I don’t have a problem with them either. You just gotta know how to deal with them. I walked in a few months ago and asked for a Pepsi GMT. They stalled for a bit, went in the back and brought it out. Shocked as I was I played it cool and bought it. The whole time throughout the purchase they acted as if they were doing me a favor. Maybe it was my lucky day, maybe they “chose” me. Just know ADs are indeed playing games.

You will get both good & bad stories.

Same with Disneyworld.

Enjoy your trip and the best way to improve your chances to enjoy a visit to large chain ADs is:

• Call them in the days before your trip
• Ask to speak to any pre-owned vintage sales specialist
• Get a name
• Call again the day before you visit the shop and ask that salesperson about logistics like best route/parking/etc.

Sounds silly but a cold drop-in is low percentage of a pleasant visit.

Just purchased last year by Carl Bucherer, Tourneau is among the largest watch retailers in the world. Despite the negative commentary they receive on this website, they must be doing something right.
I've been to the New York store many times, have always been treated nicely. They won't fawn over you, and they're not giving things away, but they are not going to be rude. And there's a great selection of a wide range of watches.

Nothing but good experiences purchasing two Rolex watches from the Tourneau Rolex Boutique. My Sub Date went from 8-10 month wait (no purchase history), to a 3 month wait (after a purchase), to an actual 30 day wait.
