YM42 on oysterflex in steel, possible?
Dear colleagues, is it possible if Rolex will present YM42 in steel on April 7?
Any predictions? |

Will see what happens. It feels like they only want to out rubber bands on the higher end precious metal watches. But who knows. Depends what is deemed fashionable!

it's quite impossible, I think rolex will reserve oysterflex bracelet for pm pieces only.

A steel YM42 on bracelet with a different dial and bezel would be very interesting to me. I don't like this utilitarian looking YM42 and I prefer a bracelet as there's always the possibility of aftermarket rubber straps. I doubt Rolex will make it happen though.

They seem to want to sell more gold watches. More profitable. A steel 42 is just another rival for their own best sellers. Why compete against yourself?

No. If the YM42 on Oysterflex had been steel to begin with they would have flown of the shelves instead of being a niche model. It would be very out of character for them to backtrack now.
PS: I believe Rolex is a master at marketing but using the Oysterflex only on PM models is just something that makes me scratch my head. |

If they produced the YM42 WG on a bracelet rather than a rubber band, I'd buy it.
If they produced the YM42 in stainless steel and on OysterFlex, I'd buy that too. In my eyes the YM42 may be the nicest Rolex currently produced (always subjective), but the configurations don't work for me - I won't drop $30k for a YM42 WG on OysterFlex. |

Probably not. PM only is my guess.

Lol then you can drop 36k for one with a bracelet. Its odd people seem to think the 42 is priced equivalent to a WG bracelet model.. fact is its 6K less with the OF. If you want a bracelet they already have the SUB and GMT get one of those, I have several with the bracelet and its the OF that sold me. The 42 on OF with the matte bezel is absolute perfection as it is.

They seem to be sticking to PM only, although that can always change. More importantly, it would look identical to the WG version, and that is definitely something they will not do without some significant changes. So I guess there's always a chance (almost none), but it won't look like the WG one if that's what you're aiming for

As much as I'd love to see them on SS, I think it will remain on PM only for the foreseeable future.
