Classic Sub 16613LB Flat S Back from Service

Hey guys (and gals)...I just wanted to post a pic of the first Rolex I ever owned just back from service. I purchased the watch in March of 1996 (preowned) and I think it dates back to 1989 or 90.

It was a daily wearer until I started "collecting" and wearing ceramics around 2010. This watch has been sitting in the safe for the last 10 years so I figured I would get her serviced and the watch looks stunning.

This 16613 also sports a "Flat S" tritium dial, which is on the rarer side, as you can see, the "S" in the word "Submariner" is written like a backward "Z". I think it is a real testament to the timeless Rolex design philosophy that a watch this old can look this freaking good. I just wanted to share...hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Wonderful! My husband has the black TT 16613 (circa 1998...lug holes!) and it looks great! Your “Bluesy” Sub is the watch that made me fall in love with Rolex!

Amazing watch! The flat S blusey is the only dial that turn purple it seems! Love those, the dial on this one is truly amazing!

I don’t have a flat S but I have a 1995 curved S ! Sub date Blusey !

I agree with you! It is like a time machine that takes me back to the late 80s, early 90s. I always remember the watch on the Rolex billboards and just fell in love with it!

Believe me, when I hadn't worn it for 5+ years I definitely considered trading it more than once. I am glad I always resisted the impulse.

Thanks! Exactly the same for me...it was always the quintessential Rolex sports watch of that time frame. So glad to have it back in the rotation!

Beautiful watch you have there! Lug holes in the case? The RSC offered a dial replacement to update the lume and I made it VERY clear that the dial and hands were not to be touched. The T<25 is such a cool touch. Enjoy your 16613 in good health!

So cool you chose to keep the original blueple dial, best reference of this model. Smart boy!
