Another misleading AD thread. No evidence Rolex pulled anything.

Sounds like the dealer didn’t want to invest the capital to meet Rolex’s customer experience requirements. Rolex wants their resellers to have a separate entrance into the Rolex area of the store -- so it becomes a Rolex store within a store (a mini-boutique), and from the outside, it looks like a Rolex-only store. Yes, it costs a lot of money to do this -- but, in all fairness, Rolex probably agrees to share the investment.

If, for some reason, you don't want to or can't do this... then the dealer is walking away from their opportunity to remain an authorized reseller. Rolex has every right to control their brand.

The only thing I hear Rolex does regarding aid is to supply more watches to ADs who complete the work as a grand opening for the boutique.

I was always treated fairly there. Both Linda and her sister would go above and beyond. The AD had a true small town feel and family atmosphere. I wish them the best.

I am devastated to hear this. They have always treated me so well and will never forget how kind they were when I got my Submariner. I also got my engagement ring there.

Add Sidney Thomas in Short Hills Mall to the list - I just went there today to discuss some Rolex pieces and was greeted with an empty space with shelves ripped from walls where the Rolex section used to be...

I still see Sidney Thomas in the Short Hills mall listed as an AD on the Rolex site. Not doubting you on what you saw and was told at Short Hills mall.

It’s very recent, literally days. The Short Hills location is still listed on Rolex website as AD, but guess it will be updated shortly. Not sure about their other locations...

Not surprised at all- in fact surprised this didn’t happen sooner. The space (which honestly wasn’t very nice) just isn’t what Rolex is looking for these days. I’m sure at some point in the future a free standing rolex boutique/Ad will pop up in the mall at short hills.

That sucks, I purchased my first (and so far only) Rolex from them. Linda was great.

Actually - if you go to Sidney Thomas website and click on Short Hills location, Rolex is no longer listed among brands. But it is listed on their Delaware location, so I guess it’s just Short Hills that got affected.

hard to believe Rolex wouldn't want a retail presence in the Short Hills Mall

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the big chains opens a stand alone Rolex boutique in the next 24 months.

Hmm, makes me wonder. I remember going to Sidney Thomas years back and met their rolex brand ambassador Joey C. He recently went off on his own (prob last 6 months) and selling rolex independently. Not sure where he was getting his stock from, but timing seems interesting.

Based on the photos of the store, it’s clear they needed to relocate. It just didn’t match the current Rolex expectations.

Looks like Leigh jewelers in Vero Beach, Florida was pulled. Rolex no longer on their site at all. Small independent in a small but fairly affluent location..

If you do business with independent Rolex AD in smaller cities, especially those with a single location, I would be concerned about putting any deposits down or continuing a purchase history there. These type of stores are not in Rolex future plans for their brand and will have their AD statuses gradually eliminated over the next few years.

Rolex has been pushing my local AD to build a freestanding store with separate entrance. They figure it’s a 2 million dollar figure to comply with; they are seriously contemplating retiring rather than re-commit.
It’s “The Rolex Way" or the highway.

Dangit! I am spending the upcoming weekend in Vero with my wife and was really looking forward to stopping into Leigh’s to try a few watches on and maybe pick one up for my wife. So sad to see these small ADs go to the wayside but such is life I suppose. Nice little store they have there on the beach avenue, we are staying on that strip so it’s an easy walk over, guess I’ll still stop in to see if they have any last minute models waiting to clear out

Ok. Check it out.

They have all the Rolex logos and such gone off the website, but they are still on the Rolex dealer locator...but usually when their site is changed, it's over for them.

They certainly fit the profile of an AD to be cut..as does the AD up in Brevard county and the one in Daytona. Small and independent, single store. Orlando and Palm Beach are within 100 miles..

Yes.

Sidney Thomas opted to not do that and their lease in SH mall is up in 1 year.

Hoping my SA goes to the boutique.

Any store with a single location isn't safe. Sad to see what is happening over the last 5 years. I don't mean to talk down about any store but I think the experience at Tourneau or any BIG chain is not the same as the small town ADs.
