Incoming - Platinum Panerai PAM01116

This watch arrived in the Dubai Mall today and I purchased it today. I think that I could be one of the first to get it.

Now I know it is hugely expensive for a Panerai and PM Panerais' have not always held up well on the secondary, but, but, but....... I just saw this watch on the day of the press release and wanted it straight away. Maybe due to the very small numbers it could hold up really well, like the green dial 737 has. Nevertheless, this is a buy with the heart and not head, and why not.

I love the fact that it is 95% platinum, green sunburst dial, the exclusive mahogany alligator strap and double white stitching, its 1 of 70 (mine is 13/70), and ok so the 70 year warranty may be a gimmick but, at aged 53 it will last my lifetime for sure, free servicing, free polishing for life basically.

Now for the Bad news.... I live in Saudi Arabia and currently there is a travel ban between the 2 countries (Saudi-UAE) due to this dam virus. Notwithstanding, a very close friend and ex-military colleague of mine will pick it up for me on Sunday, like I say I paid up front already. He (Simon) will take lots of wrist shots for me and keep it safe until the travel corridor opens up next month, hopefully. I'll post some more photos on Sunday.

This wasn't an easy catch, even though I am a VIP at my boutique here in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, my AD had to pull some strings to get me to the top of the list for this watch. Dubai received 1 watch, no more, that's it, 1 watch for Dubai. Dubai is the epicenter when it comes to watch boutiques in the Middle East so my AD was almost positive if one was to come into the Middle East it would be Dubai where it ends up and not Saudi. So a huge thank you to my good friend "Saud" the Panerai Boutique manager here in Jeddah who really went into bat for me and managed to secure the watch for me.

Anyway, here are some photos and more to come on Sunday when my buddy picks it up for me.

Thanks Imran, I loved it the first time that I saw it on the press release. I phoned my AD the day it was announced.

i forgot to mention the size 44mm for my just over 7 inch wrist, this is perfect too, I have several Panerai and I find 44mm or 45mm to be just right for me.

Congratulations, really really special Pam you got there!! Isn’t it possible for the AD to arrange shipping from UAE to you? Greetings from Doha

I'm afraid not for some reason it has to be physically picked up at the boutique itself and this month.

Still, minor details, I now own a 1 of 70 green dial Platinum Panerai, and I couldn't be happier. 🙂

Absolutely magnificent Craig! Knowing Saud myself I know he is as good as it gets in this business! Splendid watch! Probably the most beautiful Panerai I've ever seen.

You will love that one for many years. A true Paneristi such as yourself should have one that is special like 1116! Many congrats my friend!

Congratulations!! Owning a PM Panerai myself , these watches are for passionate people. Everything is not supposed to be numbers and ROIs , life is short and its time to enjoy if you can. Cheers from Dubai.

I have personal experience at the Dubai Mall boutique and their service level is right at the top. Amazing experience.

Thanks Rick, you don't buy Panerai's by accident, and particularly PM Panerais', it takes a true watch lover and passionate Paneristi.

Personally, my best watch purchases were made from the heart and not the head.

Congrats...a truly special time piece with a terrific story behind it!

Thanks Cru and Jeff, I agree it's great to hear positive Panerai news.

Heart over head but life is simply too short not to buy this bad boy. Its rarity, platinum case and looks really appealed to me from the moment I saw it..

I'm surprised its only 142 grams so much lighter than my rose gold big bang ...

Quite surprised as well. I remember the platinum Rolex Day Date being a fair bit heavier than the gold one. Guess most of the weight was from the bracelet.

As promised, and a pre-warning that some people might be overwhelmed with photos, but for those true "Paneristis'" interested see below, as my good friend Simon picked the platinum Pam 01116 from the Panerai Boutique in Dubai today. Hopefully I'll have it in my possession before too long.

The Panerai Boutique, as they all are, are special places.

Major congrats! I got mine like end last month without the spare strap and thank you letter. They will give them to me the next time when I'm back at their boutique, guess they have ulterior motives

I was invited to their private show next monday, was told they will let me try their prototypes and newest collection

You should get this transparent holder for your appreciation letter

Thanks Louie, and huge congratulations to you too.

Indeed it is a very special watch that will undoubtedly mostly stay in the hands of true Paneristis and collectors. I'm just glad that I am not the only crazy person on TRF to spend such an amount on a Panerai.

As I was saying to a friend, with a limited run of just 70 watches they are going to be a very rare sight, even some boutiques may never see one. I agree the letter signed by the CEO of Panerai is a very special thing indeed to make the watch a "full-set".

I love the letter, to quote - "With this very special watch you are creating Panerai history", what a great line!

Glad you liked it We only have 2 in Singapore, and 1 of them was a special arrangement for me with a single digit...

The transparent holders kept the letters in perfect condition and nice presentation, really nice for them to come out with this for the customers
