Hi All and happy Friday (whatever than means in these times)

I'm curious to hear opinions on MOP dials in the Rolex line. My DJ has a white MOP dial and I absolutely love it, but not sure if I would want one on a Daytona or Day Date. Like meteorite dials, no two are the same, so one would think they would be more in demand than they seem to be.

I think they're nice, but the perception seems to be that they are a bit feminine.

I tend to agree.
But then I know I couldn't pull it off

Some people might be able to and my wife certainly does

A lot of people think MOP dials are feminine. I think a MOP dial is awesome and would love to own one.

I personally like them, especially on Day Dates (Daytona dials already have a lot going on). Between the white and Tahitian ("black") MOP options, I prefer the Tahitian MOP. As noted, each is unique, and the Tahitian dial has both depth and a reflective quality.

I agree that MOP dial looks best on Datejust and Meteorite dial looks best on WG GMT Pepsi.

I love both MOP and Meteorite. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy or wear either.

Forgive me but like the exotic leather ban - hasn't MOP come under the same issue?

Try telling that the the Haliotis - as in UK I've had humble MOP impounded and destroyed by an "internet selling site" as they said it could not be exported!
just saying

As for MOP on watches I bought my other half a nice ladies Speedmaster with pink numerals and MOP dial - its quite pretty!

Yes, I had to fill out a form for US Fish and Wildlife to import a watch with a MOP dial I bought for my mom from overseas.

I struggled to buy a MOP Sinn watch from overseas. I had dealers on Chrono24 flat out cancel my orders because they didn't want to deal with the potential hassle. I did end up finding a single Sinn AD that would ship me the watches I was looking for. Should I ever buy the MOP DJ I'm lusting after I'll have to stick with US sellers only.

Wife has a MOP DJ36 with diamond markers....looks amazing on her. I tend to agree with the sentiment, MOP = more feminine.

I like them, but like you noted, they vary a lot and some look vastly better than others (much like fire opal.)

I like what Rolex does with it but IMHO I would like it more if they did not use diamonds. A stainless Rolex in black MOP without diamonds would IMHO be a huge stunner.

Exactly this. I would love a DJ41 with a MOP dial and sticks with lume.

Also find to be feminine, but some of the black MOP could be edgy enough to possibly appeal.

I’m a fan of MOP on my Daytona but sadly they are no longer available... :-(

In person the MOP is beautiful from every angle...and the black version, even with diamonds, is masculine but a little too dressy for everyday wear.

Cheers!

MOP dials really need to be seen, they never show the true beauty in pictures.

I purchased the T/T Daytona 116503 (New Model)with the White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial
in 2018 after seeing it on display in a Rolex AD’s window, even though less than a year earlier I had purchased the Daytona with the White Dial & Gold Sub Dials. But it looked so good I knew immediately I wanted it & I am very happy with it. I usually don’t like diamonds on a Watch but I made an exception for this one

Since the MOP Daytonas (e.g. 116503-009) have recently been discontinued, I’m curious if anyone knows how long the material had been a dial option.

The earliest MOP Daytonas I can find are from the late 1980s...

Cheers!

I thought I wasn’t a fan of the MOP dial until I was allocated this.
